What about Hu Jintao? Or Jiang Zemin? I can tell you there isn't really much difference. You think everything is different just because of Xi, you don't understand this country at all.

I don't think many do on here including myself. What I will say is that Xi and his predecessors have been overseeing growth which has led to increased prosperity for the masses.
it has also led to increased economic insecurity for the US and Europe hence the hostility in the media.

I wonder who wrote that plan; it’s far too sensible for Trump as his follow up showed: “Obey me or all hell will break loose.” Even Hamas has welcomed it after a fashion.

Ah yes, the “we’ll stop recidivism” program! Clearly worked wonders, didn’t it?!

I’m not against escalating sentences for repeat offenders, but non-violent life sentences should be the exception, not the norm “3 strikes” helped create in some places.

If you read what I said, the solution is the next series of elections, which are ~1 and ~3 years away.

By contrast there is no election scheduled for the UK rejoin the EU so I still prefer our chances to yours.

His envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are getting most of the credit in the news here, but I suspect there were legitimate experts involved somewhere because as you say, the plan is sensible and doesn't seem like the work of Trump's circus troupe.

You hope there are elections, the way it’s going I don’t think there will be and even if there is and the democrats take power, Trump will say it’s all rigged, if you think this fucker is leaving in anything other than a box you are sadly mistaken. I even doubt he won the last one, Elon and his minions may well have manipulated that.

The constitutional mandate is for there to be elections in 1 year and 3 years time, but the current administration is busying itself manufacturing crisis after crisis in the hoping they can create a flashpoint in order to justify suspending those elections.

Hmm, I wonder where we've seen this before?

There will be elections. Will Trump complain about losing seats, probably, but anything beyond that is pure speculation.
