Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Who's this Mooney you're on about ?
a great midfielder here in Sweden passes like KDB. Scores as often as Haaland, fast as Walker, vision Like David Silva, dribble like Ronaldhino, Balance like Messi

I would say we're a good team, not a great team.

Thing is, you only need to be a great team to win the league if there's another great team in play.
I don't think there is. There are several good teams. Arsenal, Liverpool, maybe Spurs. Maybe even Crystal Palace, although I think Europe will kill them. Then there's a thick layer of decent teams below who can beat anyone on their day. You have to drill down quite a way to hit the poor teams with no real hope of anything bar maybe escaping relegation.

A good team will win it this season. It could be us, or it could just as easily be someone else. I think you'd be brave to put a bet on.

You mean the possible pen? Probably comes into the category of free kick outside the box, and he stayed on his feet so unlikely to be given.
Really? I thought it looked like he rode a couple of challenges inside the area and then got shoved to the floor by one of them from behind as they attempted to put in a tackle after he'd gone past him. Didn't think it was all that different from the penalty that Arsenal got yesterday. But only one viewing and then the surge of adrenalin caused by their breakaway may be clouding my judgement.

One good thing, given the sequence of events, they can't fail to show it in any highlights packages.
After a second look I'll know if my glasses have blue lenses in them or not :)

Don't see Brenford in the top 13. But 1-0 is a great win?

First half great second half piss poor.
We need to sort out our mentality.
Coming out for second halves of games lacking concentration is not acceptable.
Having done all the hard work first half and playing well makes it more annoying.
We got away with it today.
Needlessly giving the opposition and crowd hope with sloppy easy passes.
I don’t think we’re that far off it, especially with all the players back.
We just need to get our concentration and consistency back.

The second half drop offs worry me. Fitness? Pre Season. But we ar 3 points off. My main worry is Arsenal who look pretty determined and good. Just hoping they will drop off. We got a nil defensibly which is good.
You don’t win anything in September and October
However, you can render your title challenge almost impossible in these months

When liverpool were five from five and winning with last gasp goals and a performance vs arsenal where their only shot was the 25 yard free kick that went in, we were told this was champions mentality
We’ve just ground out a win away from home and apart from one chance, our opponents never looked like scoring

Really ? I see massive improvements in him even though he’s had very little game time, certainly not consistently, stick with him fella I reckon he’s about to prove his worth in the team, sometimes it’s about learning to appreciate what a player brings to a side, no point comparing him to Rodri at this stage, even Rodri isn’t Rodri at the minute, very few are, but the more I see him play the more I understand his value to the team
Not competing him with Rodri at all, that would not be fair, but I hope you all is right. I just don't see it I'm sorry and I'm
A Lille curious what value do you think he brings?

Totally all this. I'd prefer us to look good for 45-60 minutes and find ways to win at this stage of the season, it means we are moving in the right direction. I don't think we have put a good 90 in yet (United notwithstanding, but they're shite) but all signs are looking positive. I just don't see the collapse of last year with this group of players.

Yes, plus the two games we lost were very early on with absolutely no pre season. Don't forget we asked the premier league if we could defer our start due to the club world cup and the above but they refused. Also against Spurs we should have scored twice before we gifted them two goals and our lack of fitness told. At Brighton we should have been three up, then again tired in the second half. Today we played on the back of a tougher than expected away game in Monaco while Brentford had a full week to prepare. When you add the injured players we have to come back and hopefully Rodri stops picking up injuries and gets back to his best, the glass is very much more half full than empty.

Only saw the first half but thought we were excellent. Sounds like the second half, less so. I wonder what changed.

New players getting used to Guardiola's system. Injured players fully fit.

Those are my guesses.
Hope you are right ,there will always be some injurys ,but im still not convinced even with them all back, this team will be the best in the league. Right side is quite a worry without a right back and a winger much better than Bobb and Savinho.

I'm guessing there's quite a few who were on the pre match thread, that will be disappointed this evening. There's some who were on there who I'm sceptical as to whether they're Citeh fans.
And anyone who likes your post are probably the offenders.......
