The Blue Buus... is callin us... Driver, where you
I just happened to be coming back from an area I was walking with my son. I saw ambulances and police flying past me. I thought it might have been a car smash and tried to cross the tram line to walk the tram pathway home. It turns out the tram itself was the no go area.

As I was walking on, I ended up asking a sightseer what had happened. The most he knew or thought had happened was a kid had severed his leg at the tram stop. Not sure in what context, but all trams were alighted.

So, if you're on a tram wondering what's happened, that seems to be the case.

I'm sure some clarity and accuracy will surface soon enough.

MUEN has just reported incident but not what the incident is , unless it's an arse kissing for the rags it's hopeless

My daughter was there. She said a lad was sat on the platform with his legs over hanging. The Tram arrived and took one off. He's probably luck to have only lost one .

Jesus that's horrible poor lad. My mates uncle died under one of them trams on his way to work the other year too.

Good grief!

Why are kids like this? I see some dancing on the tracks seconds before the tram arrives and I want to shout at them, but it's not my problem, I guess and it won't stop idiotic kids pulling stunts in a couple of days again!

Obviously he's ignored all the warnings about standing behind the yellow line when a tram is approaching.
As someone famous once said -
" Stupid Boy".

In all the sadness in this story, not one person will think of the driver.

Well I did but you know what I mean. I doubt he'll drive a tram again but it will probably also fuck him for driving a car as well.
you thought of the driver just before i did.

awful thing to happen/see.

it's the same for train drivers when someone chucks themselves under.

i know one who struggles with the memory of it every night when he closes his eyes.

Bloody hell - what was he thinking. Or wasn’t……
Life changing incident for him and his family and so easily avoidable.
Hope he makes a good recovery - and the driver too who must be distraught having to watch it

Sadly its how kids are and always have been - when I was not even 12 I was playing on the train tracks back of Cheadle Hulme behind our house. Luckily for me I was never hit but a recall some very near misses as I skipped across the tracks not seeing an express approaching until the very last second!

Absolutely, kids just think they are indestructible at that age and dares and taking crazy risks is what they do.

Not just kids. About ten years ago I was in Marple with missus and daughter plus a mate from work who was in his 30s at the time. He thought it would be funny to cross the tracks at Marple station as we waited for the train. My daughter was only about 6 and my missus was fuming.

In which direction was the tram driver looking?
Trams can't stop immediately but I'd have thought the driver would have had time to sound his the horn. - Perhaps he did and the kid ignored it.
Also, why are there so few seats at almost all Metrolink stops? It looks like they've done their best to make every platform inhospitable. - Some on the Bury and Alty lines have kept basic original station features but the rest only offer a tiny bit of shelter and it's not as though rain is unknown on Manchester.

This has to be to prevent kids from loitering there surely? They're fucked whatever they do really.
