Is this offside?

Player A takes a penalty, it strikes the post and rebounds to Player B who shoots but the goaly parries it and the ball rolls back fo
player A who scores.

No defender was in the area and the referee cancelled the goal as he said Player A was stood in an offside position when it rebounded back to him after player Bs shot

I cant get my head round how he could be offside!
Am i missing something?

Forget the penalty bit. It's irrelevant. If he was off side when B kicked it, he's off side. Bit tricky to really know without seeing it.

Plsyer A plays a ball to player B who is miles offside. Players B even shepherd's the ball so that player C can smash the ball past Ederson.

The goal is given.

I can't get my head how Player B wasn't flagged offside.

Where’s the second defender that would be needed to play him onside?

If Player A is ahead of the second defender, he’s offside.

However….if Player A was BEHIND THE BALL when the rebound was struck by Player B, he is ONSIDE and the goal should count.

Yes…you’re not accounting for the fact that the game is at The Swamp and the players play in red shirts!
