North Stand Construction Discussion

Ricky was a lover of Guinness by all accounts.

Good luck with the latter given their coverage so far.

There's still a few landmarks externally, completion of the sails, the 3 big screens & the roof to City Square for starters.
Agreed, also the skywalk there should be a big lift between the two quads
The clearing up and the landscaping should be of interest as well so lots to look forward to

You might be right, but the workers can work around matches and during the international breaks.

I can’t think of any other reason why so much scaffolding is needed in that specific and final empty corner.
Sure someone said that the club had said no fourth screen at the moment and logically it would have followed on from the third one

I just read that Arsenal are planning to extend capacity by 10k and maybe use Wembley whilst the work takes place. The London bubble will burst one day. Meanwhile make sure you fill the Etihad with as many locals as possible and then there may be further expansions at some stage.
That ship sailed a long time ago.
Unfortunately

That is going to look MEGA! Especially at night games with the huge screens on

Once the fan zone roof and the video screens have been installed it will look really impressive, especially at night and through the dark Autumn and Winter months. There will be nothing like it at any other football ground in the UK.

Pictures from my mobile phone.

The vast majority of the pictures are on my camera, which I will post tomorrow morning.

I get the effect City and Populous are trying to create with the brickwork looking like old Manchester mills and warehouses, but it doesn’t look good, especially when it’s a brand new 4 star Hotel, and it doesn’t tie in with the rest of the North stand and the Etihad exterior.

Compare it to the House of Social brickwork at First Street, which also has the effect of looking like an old Manchester mill and warehouse.

Photo by House of Social Manchester in Manchester, United Kingdom. May be an image of brick wall, buildings and text.
