I thought that initially, to be fair.

Looks like he's going to be a quality player and this season will be the big test. If is groin doesn't give him many problems and he continues playing the way he has been playing, surely we'll be in the mix for him.

You mean act more like chelsea ,united liverpool this summer. I'd prefer to to carry on with the approach that has made us more successful than those teams the last 10 years. If we want Guehi and Wharton then try and get them,sure we would, not sure we do though.

Sometimes for the right players, yes. Particularly if rivals are also after them.

It’s all very well to mention past performance but we’re slipping now and need to get back to those levels, which means getting the best available players.

Finally, I also believe that with a bit more flexing of our financial muscle we would have been even more successful.

The very last reason to buy any player should always be because rivals want them, if it's the right player for us the yes go for them as we always have.
Currently we have rebuilt with a much younger squad and hopefully the signings we have made will get us back to the required levels. Too early to tell whether we will need either Guehi or Wharton next season, with luck we won't if we decide we do then no doubt we'll try.
