25 | Gianluigi Donnarumma - 2025/26

I hate to bring the rags into this debate. A comparison when they were in their pomp.

Eddie >>>> Schmeichel

Donnarumma >>>> Van Der Sarr

Both the best keepers of their time with different skill sets that will win more trophies for us.

Eddie will always be a city legend. And so will Gigi when he leaves as well.

I don't understand why people need to compare them.

I think Donnaruma is a superior keeper to Ederson but happy to have had both.
Thats just my personal viewpoint.
Just don't understand why you bring Ederson up on the Donnaruma thread.

I'm not the one who brought it up. Its been in discussion for a while.

Donnarumma is realistically the best keeper to have ever come through the club, but Ederson is *our* greatest ever keeper. This will either immediately make sense to you or it won't ever.

Donnarumma can (and hopefully will) build a list of accomplishments here that will trump Ederson, but he's only been a City player for less than half a season. So he can't be *our* best ever keeper for now because Ederson has had a better City career.

Exactly. Some seem to suggest Eddie was dragged screaming and kicking from the building clouded in public humiliation. He served us well but for a variety of reasons he appears to have decided to move on. The opportunity to sign a major talent as a replacement emerged and was grasped. The new man is bringing something new and is not a replica of what we had before. Everyone should be happy. Who was the most valuable to us will have to await time to decide. My view is that it will give rise to sustained debate.

And fwiw, Donarumma will make some howlers for us as well, it's what every keeper does. He was a steal for 26m
couldnt give a fuck what he does for italy, since hes been here hes made a fantastic save against the rags to stop it getting to 2-1 and potentially tricky, been dominant against arsenals biggest weapon of set pieces and potentially won us three points against brentford so on that basis alone hes doing bloody well.

Given what different qualities they have its a perfectly valid topic to raise.

Whatever we’ve lost by Eddie leaving has been more than compensated by Donnaruma imo. It was time for Eddie to go and I’m so glad we’ve replaced him with this guy.

Fair play for admitting you were wrong. I’ll take you off ignore now.
Here's the thing....

I call out players, tactics and City management as I see it - based on my best understanding. Sometimes I'm wrong - maybe very wrong. And when I'm wrong I'll admit so.

Why are you now posting that you'll take me off ignore... for "now"? I couldn't give a fuck if you ignore me or not.

If you want to engage in dialog - hoping to convince me that I'm wrong - I'm 100% up for that. Your passive-aggressive... well, I think I'll provisionally put you off ignore... for now... isn't going to work. I fucking do not care if you ignore me. But... if you want to debate my positions - however wrong they may seem to you... I'm all in. And I very much welcome the discourse. Your insights may well convince me that I'm wrong - as I hope that my insights will at times convince you, that you're wrong. Or perhaps we'll continue to disagree, albeit with a better understanding of the opposite opinion.

Note - I haven't ignored you. Reflect on this. I value your opinion - sometimes I agree - sometimes not. But I'm willing to engage in dialog - and insofar as our discussions go - though we may ultimately disagree - I'm OK with this outcome.
