ID cards.

You don’t have to carry it around with you, it’s not for that. I don’t carry my phone or I-pad around, and I’m fairly sure that I won’t be forced to if this comes in. So, what I’d ask is what has changed and what makes you think that you’d be personally targeted by the police who would arrest you if you didn’t show your digital ID?

The biggest fear with centralised data is hacking, id like to know how secure sny information would be.

Biometric residence permits (BRPs)

Biometric residence permits (BRPs) are cards that were used to prove immigration status. You might have a BRP if you were granted permission to live or work in the UK on or before 31 October 2024.

All BRPs have now expired and have been replaced by eVisas. An eVisa is an online record of your immigration status.

If you have an expired BRP and still have permission to stay in the UK, you need to create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account to get access to your eVisa.

You should keep your expired BRP. You might be able to use it for 18 months after the expiry date printed on the card to:

You can no longer use an expired BRP for travel.
Well, I travelled a month ago and didn't have the e-visa, although I don't have a problem with having one.

I did forget my BRP as well but I'm sure the authorities could have checked things online if needed.

You may still be in the 18 month grace period.

Quite possible. Whether it be a card or evisa I dont have a real problem with either. It's there for a purpose. Ive got a card, I'll get the visa sorted when I need it.

Tell me I have to carry it with me at all times and produce it (or an alternative ID) on demand when I'm going about my day to day business in the country I live isn't something I'm going to readily agree to though.

Probably because there arent any plans to use it for blood types, but there are plans to use it for other things.
In hindsight, Labour couldnt have fucked this up more if they tried. it could have been sold to us so much better. Instead they chose to go down the Right to Work route, and then his comments about it being used to give easier access to your own money was the cherry on top.

No trust in them at all.

Like what?
Originally immigration and right to work. Starmer has spoken about banking and financial services as well as public services such as schooling, benefits etc.

Cooper has spoken about making it compulsory for 13 to 16 year olds.

No, only if it’s required. Don’t need at work as it’s a secure area. Don’t want to be interrupted when I’m out for recreational purposes so not needed. I see people with there’s when training, why would I need it doing phys? Only on me for essential needs, like shopping or when needing comms while having to do precise meet-ups.

Don’t forget the 16 year olds who will be able to vote, but will need some form of ID under previous government policy.

*taps nose*

Why would there be protests?

because last week the whopping "patriots" were dead against them for every one - all Starmers fault of course - then they went full on over Chinese spies - that got no traction so now its football - so I assumed that they must have missed this roll out being Starmers fault so they could protest that too
