How many of these managers who played under the pisscan have actually gone on to do something amazing .............i know there is a few with promotions or have kept teams up but on the whole they have been fooking crap.
He had old ancient ideas gpc and he honestly just couldn't teach his players about the modern game I stated a few years back on here or elsewhere, that all these former rag players sticking their noses in they're pretty much sabotaging every single manager since old whiskey nose left.
The thing many don't get is that fergie was old fashioned dinosaur long before he turned up at the rags, he was a throwback to an older era where bosses commanded respect and undying loyalty of their players, he generally tore most of his players down and built them back up to believe they'd only succeed under his guidance.
Those ex players learning the football management trade from him and then seeing new ideas from newer managers that is completely alien, it was bizarre to them and since he left his ex players spout the same nonsense that this isn't the united way or this isn't the fergie way, questioning more modern methods while not realising that the management methods they learned are absolutely stone age in comparison to today.
By the time fergie retired he was still an early to late 70s tough love throwback so his old coaching methods couldn't be passed on to modern players, as it was built purely on being the boss and having total control over his players demanding they listen and show their utmost respect.
It could in theory still work if someone had total power at a club but that is unlikely nowadays, the players generally hold the power and if a figure like fergie bullies them they need the backing of their own players which took time.
Roy Keane hasn't shied away from saying he actually learnt more from Brain Clough than he ever did from fergie who's ideas were long outdated this doesn't change the fact he was a top manager, he just needed absolute power at a club to implement his demands as late as he did and some said that was sour grapes from Keane what he said but it was true.
He couldn't offer anything of use in the modern game to his students because he didn't know anything new he picked up the odd thing along the way but didn't evolve, he's like the old snake oil salesman who had the charm trying to teach potential conmen to scam but there are far more successful ways in today's information age.
The only thing he did was make sure his coaching staff had new methods while he stayed in Jurassic Park and if his players got in trouble they'd have to face his t-rex anger, he didn't at any point ever need to evolve and move with the times because he was an immovable object at the swamp with the power he had, all the players would've had to move on before him and now he's just a bad smell hanging over every new manager everyone compares the new guy to him.
Their fans think they're stumbling on hard times since fergie left but they wouldn't know the first thing about hard times if it smacked them full on in the face, lets hope they're far from rock bottom that their struggles get even worse to become a complete and utter misery for their angin entitled fans.
Like any fellow blues or non rags lurking on here I'd absolutely love that.
