Media discussion - 2025/26

I am getting fed up at the moment with claims in the media that the Liverpool v Man Utd game is the biggest game of the season, between the two biggest clubs in English football. If it is so, then it is marginal. A lot of people who watch Man Utd games, and read their articles, are in my opinion City and Liverpool fans who enjoy watching them struggle.

I looked at Youtube subscriber numbers to get an idea of club popularity. This does suggest that Liverpool and Man Utd still are the best supported clubs but it's by no means as one-sided as the media coverage suggests.

Media led narrative of it being the biggest game how many times have they went toe to toe for the title about 3-4 times over their history making it out like it’s a proper rivalry all made up bollocks to get the masses giddy..

It’s not really anything to brag about unless you are RM or Barca.
It’s more shutting up arseholes saying ‘my club is bigger than City’, ‘you have no fans’

NB Further down the list Leicester is far higher relatively (24.5m vs 18.8m) than those perennial bullshitters Villa.
That 24.5m is about the gap between City & Chelsea.

Of note is a column showing ‘growth’ from June 2024. City 8% - didn’t win anything, Liverpool 7.5% - won PL.

Across X, FB, Insta & Tiktok we're bigger than the dippers and only behind PSG, the rags, and the 2 horse league La Liga teams.

That ignores Asian social media platforms for instance where I'm sure we're head and shoulders above all PL teams at least. Damned if I can find those stats right now though.

Kin hell first news feed on my Google this morning ! What the fuck are they going to do for clicks when we are proven innocent ? It seems everyone thinks City are guilty.

.....or no punishment and a big fuck off bill to cover costs for the Prem to pass onto the tyranny of the majority.

I assume that's not in the full post?

Thanks I had forgotten about that. I started by googling tv viewing figures but couldn't get good results so I checked Youtube.

You do realise you've gone and upset Michael Vaughan.
