Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv - away fans banned | MTA confirm they will refuse any allocation for safety reasons (p26)

Horrible cunts shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the Villa game. Don't care if they're Jewish, Muslim, Hindus or fucking Klingons; they're violent thugs and rest assured they'd cause trouble here, as they do everywhere else.
They'll get kicked to fuck or worse. That's the reason for the ban. And the PM is a fucking idiot for getting involved. Imagine if the ban gets overturned and something really bad happens? His position would be untenable, I suppose that why it's gone quiet, someone with more than one brain cell has worked out the political consequences if it went tits up.

I don’t think the police are grovelling to anybody, there role is to make a decision to ensure the safety of the general public and prevent disorder. The reality is, with a very depleted work force, to ensure this happens for one football match is difficult enough, let alone fans travelling for a period of 2/3/4 days and staying all over the city centre.

The easiest way to ensure this is to keep the two factions apart, and the simplest method is to ban away fans. It’s far from perfect but we live in a very imperfect world currently.
If MTA fans are that bad why did no one think to ban them in August when the draw was made 10 weeks ago?

If football is supposed to be against racism why can Villa ban Tel Aviv fans from travelling to Villa Park?
If that's not racist I don't know what is!
Villa havent banned the away fans, the police hav. They've banned the Tel Aviv fans because of their previous violent behaviour.
In Amsterdam they caused carnage. Despite what is being banded around, it isn't political, they are a violent mob.

This is all getting a bit out of hand again. Have deleted a few posts, but let’s stick to discussing the actual thread topic please, namely the banning of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from the upcoming game at Villa Park. If you want to discuss the Israel/Palestine situation generally there is a separate thread for that. Let’s keep civil and respectful too.

Right so the poor discriminated against Maccabi supporters just got involved in a riot with their fellow city rivals and cancelled the game with multiple injuries, once again this government can't help but make complete imbeciles out of themselves, all they had to do was just shut the fuck up and let local police do their job, but no let's make an international spectacle out of it, fucking idiots.

They’ve a bad reputation, but I think it’s more nuanced than that. They’d get an absolute pasting by the locals in that part of Brum and basically the police know they’re likely to be attacked and are trying to avoid a riot. They can’t win whatever they do but it’s more to do with Gaza than football fan behaviour. A tricky one - ultimately for the Government I suppose, as in the end everything comes back to them. But I agree, nothing to do with Villa.

Lovely bunch

Shows how ridiculous all the discourse has been.

It's shite that we have scenarios where away fans cant be trusted to behave but sounds like the midlands police were only acting on information given to them.

It's on the clubs to weed out the fans causing the trouble and make sure they dont attend otherwise this will keep happening in Europe.

Okay, I have to chime in because the headline is incredibly misleading. The derby was stopped and cancelled because the opponent's fans, Hapoel tel aviv's fans, threw fireworks and other pyrotechnics onto the pitch, injuring a number of police officers. After the game was cancelled, the Israeli police did what it always does, which is to engage in egregious police brutality against women and children just trying to go back home, frustrated after having been robbed of a game because of 10 assholes.

I know people want to fit anything for an agenda, but I don't see at all how any of this is related to the villa game. I don't know about you, but I have been to this derby many a time on the hapoel side and it's ALWAYS the police who escalates any situation and causes these so called "riots", so I wouldn't exactly take their side of the story.

Both teams's fans threw flares onto the pitch, it's claimed that the Maccabi supporters did it after the game was cancelled.

Ah okay, I did not see that - but the game was cancelled over the hapoel fans' flares. regardless, this is not a reason to cancel a match. Like i've said I attended so many derbies that had flares, it's almost a mainstay and expected nowadays.

in the same week that they wont let you into their ground if you are a certain race,
No, banned because they are thugs and have spent their last away games in Europe smashing the place up. Nowt to do with race.

got their own derby cancelled today because they can’t act properly.

Good on Villa for banning them now before the game happens and it’s a shit show and people get hurt over a football match.

It's not Villa who made the decision anyway.

Their last European away game was on 24th September against PAOK, why has it taken nearly a month for Villa to ban them?

Also where did you find out about them smashing Thessaloniki up. There is no mention of it online.

I'm surprised that the Greeks let them smash the place up! They are normally fanatical and intimidating!
