Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

It happens like clockwork every year. I went looking for a game from early in the 20/21 season a while back ti prove a point in some random argument. It was a game from before we turned things around and people were ready to throw him off a bridge.

Enjoy.
One of the best posts I've seen on BM..I'm on page 4, cringing and praying I dont see a post from me

Starting lineup was shaky, but the subs were great. Don't think Reijnders and Foden can play together in the middle with Bernardo and Kovacic available.
I thought the starting lineup was fine, if the wingers had their shooting boots we'd scored a couple of goals, subs were spot on and helped us manage the game well, hopefully he'll continue using 5 subs from now on.

My initial reaction to seeing it was that it was good, but Reijnders and Ake proved risky picks after the first 15. Totally agree we could've been out of sight in the first half if the finishing was better and that the subs turned the game on its head.

Pep will be loving this Liverpool wobble. 3 billion spent in one window and this is how their defence performs. If this doesn't give us a boost nothing will

Pep ‘I am not going anywhere. I am not moving from this seat’
He’s going to be drawing his pension from Ashton New Road post office he’s going to stay that long.
Things you love to see (and hear)
CTID
The more they ask about him leaving the more he's likely to stay. He's a stubborn bleeder our Pep.

Slot might be available in a month or two.

He won the league just a few months ago, so must get PL football better than Pep, who is finished because City have won only two points more than Arsenal and Liverpool this calendar year.

Bit quiet this thread at the moment. No doubt the usual suspects will be out in force when we next lose a game.
It's funny, my view on Pep and feeling it might have been time to leave was based off a full season last year and then an awful start to this year. I got told that it was too soon to make such judgements, yet off the back of a brilliant month and a bit, he is back and all problems are solved.

A big problem for me was playing style. It was rare watching us and being excited with the slow boring build up, Saturday had that until we scored. I was very bored but if you are winning games and that approach is effective then you cannot complain too much. I think we will continue to be pretty boring in a bid to be more solid, but I also think we will be a lot more consistent too results wise. People are allowed opinions that differ to yours. On this one I will obviously, gladly be wrong.

But your opinion is unreasonable as our football has been scintillating for 90% of his tenure but was necessarily stodgy last year to make up for our aged midfield.

We are now playing with increasing fluidity again, Arsenal away aside.

It isn't unreasonable. I said it that final season winning the 4 in a row, I fear our play is getting boring and predictable, that was whilst we was still winning. Even the start of that next season and we was top of the league I said this isn't sustainable, so that opinion is not unreasonable. Our play has declined, the slow boring build up was ..... boring. We had an ageing midfield because we didn't plan properly. Pep himself saying we didn't need a rebuild (we did)

The majority of Saturday wasn't fluid. It was largely crap up to the goal but then we looked better after that.

Didn't do a lot Saturday to suggest the corner has been turned at all. Starting line up was questionable .We've been carrying A couple of players for weeks yet they get an automatic start.( We all know who they are) Entertainment first half was low. Second half was much better and far more entertaining so 50/50 on the day. Would expect a team challenging for the title to win all their home games against middle to lower half teams. Bigger tests await.

You've been waiting for Pep to turn a corner for about 8 years now so don't think we'll worry about you still waiting. It's blindingly obvious to most we are building a new young exciting team.

Again, it's unreasonable to criticise a team winning a 4th consecutive league title (the only team ever to accomplish such an achievement.)

Kudos to Pep. We're in transition and Pep has changed tactics to get the best out of of current side. For me, still the best manager in world football.
