It’s not just the new signings that have given us reason for optimism this term; some of those, who really struggled last season are looking back to their best, especially Phil, who after a slow start, is showing the class that we all know he possesses.
Rúben is also looking back to his best and Erling seems to be much more dangerous, if that’s possible. Joško too, is looking like the quality centre-back we all know he is, and is proving his worth in his preferred position, rather than as a makeshift full-back.
Nico O'Reilly is coming on in leaps and bounds as a left-back, considering he was being used as an attacking midfielder in the Academy sides. We haven’t missed Rayan Aït-Nouri at all, though the sooner he’s back the better.
100%! We are still a way off being the finished article but so many are showing the quality we need and you don't have the collective moans and groans when you see certain players in the team. Khusanov looked solid at RB so it's not just Nunes, who was great on Saturday anyway, and Rico as options. We have four options at LB.
Nico is improving game after game and even without Rodri we have a balanced side.
The way Bobb, Bernardo and Cherki came on and both kept the ball effectively and looked to get us forwards was hugely positive too.
The Arsenal result was disappointing in the end, but as Pep said, the show of character was superb and exactly what we lacked last season.
