This is being deployed in Sale center today and Thursday. I'm not quite sure why in Sale, I wouldn't have thought it exactly a hotbed of crime.
People will say if you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear but I don't like it. We all know eventually it will become standard practice everywhere, we will soon have it in operation on our turnstiles.

If they trialled it in Manchester first they would need a small army of police to shift the shit, best to start with the casual shoppers that pay for their goods before moving on to more serious things like TV licenses and parking tickets.

According to the notice, they're comparing against a known database of people of interest, who, we can assume are wanted for something. If this makes it easier to catch known criminals, isn't that a good thing?

I'm not getting drawn into it like I did the digital id thread where I ended up getting banned, probably rightly, as I did lose my rag ( No pun intended lol) a bit.
If people can't see where all this is heading then there is no hope or point arguing it. They will find out one day. I see posted elsewhere, not here, that the Nat West bank are adding a carbon footprint to all your purchases unless you opt out of it. Some sandwiches are listing a carbon footprint on their packaging too. Once absolutely everything we do is traceable and able to be turned off if we don't comply or try to.overuse our allocated allowance it's game over.

It scans absolutely everybody though. They say the images will be deleted after a set period of time but will they?
It's all fine and dandy until they decide you're guilty of breaking some rule or other and are then added to the database. We've seen from over zealous stewards at football grounds how easy it is to incur a banning order for practically nothing, indeed there was a post from one of our fans who was fighting one if I remember correctly.

These type of things come in and it is pretty obvious what the end game is. So currently it is sold as catching criminals, the reality will be our moves being tracked, as we have seen with the IDs being proposed.

Same with at the ground, people had valid complaints about them being installed, the people with their head in the clouds quote city that it is just for staff, when we know it will be introduced for us.

They are deleted. It scans against a set of pre determined people who will be wanted for crimes, on warrant, or missing. No data is saved

Edited for accuracy.

I have a relative who deals with this. You would be naive to believe the government /police /Secret Service/mainstream media take on this.

Liberty already has numerous examples where it has been trialled and data (unintentionally of course! ) has been saved.

If you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear from facial recognition surveillance systems as fortunately our legal system ensures that no innocent person is ever falsely charged / incorrectly convicted / serves time in prison for something they never did.

Only to be let off as they only nicked a few hundred quid of stock from corner shop so nothing to answer ‍♀️

I read an article about a sophisticated type of thing being used in areas of China. The end game, allegedly, will be you getting fined for speeding and that fine coming directly out of your bank account with the need for summonses or court appearances etc etc. I'm sure some will just say that if you aren't speeding or parking illegally, or shoplifting then you have nothing to worry about. It'll all unravel the first time they use it at a rally for the flag wavers.

I suppose they are in upgrade on the old hoolie vans at games, does anybody remember those?

I think trust in the government ( Whichever one is in power) and the authorities in general is at an all time low.

Must remember to pack my wig, fake tashe and sunglasses next time I’m in Sale.
