Old City Scarf from around 1975-76

The season when we had FOUR kits. It’s not a modern thing.
And we also first had the Red/Black sash in 77.

Those 4 kits are absolutely mint .... my all-time favourites.

The 4th kit that Buzzer is wearing was used in 'Striker' the kids TV programme, about Ben Dyker playing for Brenton Boys. I've still got the book, but there's no sign anywhere in any Archives of the show itself sadly.

This is the one I had. 77. Botton right. Top right was 73.

You might have had it in 77, but all four kits were 72/73

I was just going off what you said earlier.

What I said earlier?

Probably true, but as a 'cat licker' I was always of the deluded opinion it is was 60-40 ish at City but certainly more Prods than Cats. Meanwhile at the swamp, it was way more Cats, say 80-20.
From my time standing on the kippax..late 80s till it was knocked down
Id say the 60:40 split was accurate

In boring passages of play ,random chants of " Rangers !!" followed by " Celtic!! "
belted round the terrace. Id preferred Celtic as a kid but didn't get involved in these chants as they
sounded serious and backed by religion. and not my' schoolboy. ' pick a Scottish team ' innocent selection.

Rangers def out numbered Celtic at the time.

Yes I’d agree with that. As a Catholic I always preferred Celtic as I always thought I should :-(
As I got older I preferred Rangers and still do, even though they’re ‘Proddy Dogs’ and I’m Catholic of Irish descent.

I’ve also tried to find footage but to no avail. What a great programme. I’ve got “Striker 2nd Leg” somewhere!
Don Brennan was in it I think - in a Leeds tracksuit IIRC.
Wasn’t one players called Splidge or Soggy or something rather demeaning?!?

Yes mate, when you said we also first had the Red/Black sash in 77.
That's the one I had.
Having said that, I'm 62 now and can remember fuck all really.
It could have been the red/Blue. Fuck, it might even have had the flappy collar for all I know.
Got you now…

Yes mate, Soggy was the goalkeeper (I think?) Ben and his Dad lived in a caravan and was an ex-pro who got badly injured and didn't want his lad to go through what he did.

Kevin Moreton played Ben Dyker, apparently there were 3 series (I can only remember 2) and ran from 75-76.

Same with me.The united lads at school used to shout Celtic at us and we would shout Rangers back at them.
I cant stand Scottish football i think its shit. Being half Irish and catholic I loathe Celtic.

I tend to think this gets a bit over stated, It might depend on which part of Manchester you grew up in, but I was brought up a Catholic in the 70's and I didn't know anyone who supported any Scottish club, at school it was split pretty much 50/50 between us and the rags. I've only ever known 1 City/Rangers fan and he was Scottish.

It was a regular chant on the Kippax back then. I don’t think many actually ‘supported’ any other club but City, especially Manc blues.
