Match Thread | Aston Villa vs. Manchester City (26/10/25)

If he'd put out the team that ended the match it could have turned out differently . Its hypothetical
Villa love the offside rule . Loads of teams get caught out by it. Emery is famous for that tactic. Need to do better when needing just one goal. On another day we draw and we would be happy with it. Still in transition. But its way better that what we had 11 months ago.

People were saying that because no one expected Liverpool to sell their important players or Jota to die and fumble a CB in the last moment. Arsenal kept their best players and added crazy depth

Let’s see, too excitable, and not a convincing performance today.

What do you expect? Entitlement in here is laughable, really is.
I'd say we're entitled to be entitled.

We've won 6 of the last 8 PL titles.
We've done the domestic quadruple.
We've won a treble.
We've won the PL with 100 points.
We've got one of the, if not the, greatest coach in history.
We've got supposedly world class players.

Yet we play like a mid-table League One team.

Because neither us or Pool have adjusted to the new PL style of play. The league this year is basically who can get the most corners and throw ins. Its up to the manager to adjust to this new style of play. There is a reason why Liverpool are also looking like a mid table because they suffer from the same issues as us

That's bollocks. What has "the new PL style of play" got to do with us consistently failing to string coherent passing sequences together? Or putting shit crosses in (or not putting them in at all)? Or failing to make incisive runs?

They lose games having hit the post and crossbar 6 times and showing plenty of attacking menace. You can tell eventually they will get their act together. Whereas we look brittle and leaderless at times.

Mate they are absolutely dreadful defensively and concede goals at will, they keep doing that and it doesn't matter what they do offensively.

the midfield purchases for the last 5 years have been mediocre. theres no getting away from that

also Foden in central midfield doesnt really work in a tight game. its been 8 years and he isnt david silva or kevin de bruyne.

play him tucked in on the right of a forward three or four or not at all.

Shit isn't it.

Teams used to be too embarrassed to set up with everyone inside their own penalty area, but almost all do it now - and we possibly lose out at times by not doing it. We're at the point where it's all just about taking it in turns to have attacks, but making sure you've got everyone behind the ball to stop the opposition.

Then sling the ball as close to the goal as you can, block people, hold people, and try and get a touch. It's crap.

I thought we did adjust against Arsenal away.

We don't though do we, that’s nonsense.
