I have just spent the day in Blackpool with my daughter and mrs as a treat in the School Holidays. We have had a such a top day, but fuck me was it expensive!

Reckoning up I spent the following
Pleasure Beach tickets £110
Parking £18
Dinner (2 burgers and drinks) £22
bowl of cockles and crab sticks £6
£20 in coins in arcade after the Pleasure Beach (lasted about 15 mins)
The darts game for a teddy on the South peir £5
A ride on the waltzers on the peir £16
5 donuts for the ride home £5

That's £202 for 3 of us in about 10 hours in the place. A Caravan for the night would have been £95.

How do families of 4 afford to spend a week there. It would certainly be cheaper to go to benidorm for a week

I'd say that was about right; especially the £110 you spent on hookers.

Is the pleasure beach ticket a "ride all you want" on every ride? Last time I went there it was free entrance and you paid at the ride.

I went to Blackpool to play in their Hockey tournamemnet years ago, and we loved the place. That was 35 or so years ago now, so things may have changed, but we went there for years because we had so much fun.

We won the George Greaves trophy a couple of times, which isn't an achievement many people can brag about, and it had it's idiosyncracies like watching people eating Ice Cream on the prom half an hour after stuffing a full English breakfast down their throats, but it was what it was. Cheap, cheerfull, and a bloody good place to visit by the seaside.

People don't go on holiday to Blackpool any more, apart from FOC's, and I doubt many of them go for a full week either.

Hey I love Blackpool ;-)

To be fair we only do day trips there and only go when Northern Rail do their flash sales so it only costs £4 return because I am a tight arse.

Still a great walk down the promenade looking at all the derelict guest houses and the charity shops are a must to visit for bargains.

You should have got your doughnuts from Morrisons.
That would have brought your spend down to under £200.
Think on for next time.

They don't do that anymore. But worse, they don't allow people to go in for free if they're not going on any rides. So grandma has to pay 20 quid just to walk around and mind everyone's stuff these days too.

Thats cheaper then what my mates and me pay to watch games at the Etihad.

Just spent a week in South West Wales. The most I paid for parking was £6 for 24hrs.

Cost of living yep bet it’s not much difference now a week in Blackpool or a week in Spain!

As a kid in the 70’s Rhyl was our local weekly holiday and our big holiday was like going down south to Devon or Cornwall Blackpool Southport we went there for days out and a occasional weekend! Going abroad wasn’t a thing then or if it was it was to expensive..

OP, fortunately for you Social Services don't open until 9am so you still have time to edit your post.

Especially the bit that says you took your daughter to Blackpool for a treat.

Fuck me, I hope she never wags school or nicks something from a shop.
