was fouled. simple as.
I've not watched it back extensively, only saw it the once but it seemed like he let go of his arm way before he jumped. How us not a foul when the player clearly as his arm round him ! . I get that he flapped but jumping up when someone is holding you ain’t easy .
As long as he is holding his arm while the ball is in play it's a foul, no matter if he lets go quick or not. you just can't do this to goalkeepers on set pieces. used to be that you couldnt even touch keepers in corners, then you could just do this "standing your ground" bullshit. now apparently you can just hold them! awful rule change and is the #1 reason why the league is looking so turgid and full of shit set piece routines these daysI've not watched it back extensively, only saw it the once but it seemed like he let go of his arm way before he jumped.
Noticed the change in our defensive setup after villa, we had 2 smaller guys roaming just outside the bulk of the bodies to cut out any potential repeat of villas goal and as such we didnt give the keeper the blockers we have given him previously
Its going to get worse and worse and Arse are at the forefront of it. There are always fouls involved on the GK when Arse are on set pieces specially wtih a player having no intention of playing the ball and just there to restrict the GK going anywhere near the ball. This has also led to the long throws we are seeing. The PL has to quickly get in some rules or else its a free for all in that box with the main aim of the game being restricting the GK to move at all.As long as he is holding his arm while the ball is in play it's a foul, no matter if he lets go quick or not. you just can't do this to goalkeepers on set pieces. used to be that you couldnt even touch keepers in corners, then you could just do this "standing your ground" bullshit. now apparently you can just hold them! awful rule change and is the #1 reason why the league is looking so turgid and full of shit set piece routines these days
Don't think it was a foul at all, seen much worse rightly not given. He just fucked up. Accept it, move on, don't do it again. More annoyed at the needless yellow for protesting too much. Had nothing else to do besides a standard save or 2. How much he celebrates goals is very infectious, noticed he appreciates his banner too.
There are rules in place already, they just aren't applying them correctly - quel surprise! Its going to get worse and worse and Arse are at the forefront of it. His tendency to punch will result in errors like this every now and again. He made a similar one for Italy last month.
No drama. We won the game and he will win us more points than we will drop because of him.
Not a foul by the way. If it is, he is guilty of the same when he is pushing in the run up to corners. Just needs to be a bit stronger and less dramatic. Love him, though. Great mentality and it will never affect him going forward like it may do with less experienced 'keepers.
I thought we were moaning about nothing in the stadium yesterday with foul on Donnarumma, followed by the immediate penalty shout.
The latter was nonsense but having seen their goal on MOTD last night, definite foul, hooking the goalkeepers arm immediate before a goal has to be a foul in the build up.
Set pieces are dominating the league because VAR and the referees arent doing their jobs.
I can see a scenario in the not too distant future where attackers arent allowed in the 6 yard box on corners. Otherwise we're just in for seasons of playing corners and surrounding the goalkeeper.
Having to create lots of shit rules because of VAR. The game was actually better when the refs were protecting goalkeepers.
I hadn’t a clue in the stadium but Donna was making it very clear what he thought and the TV footage proves he was correct.I thought we were moaning about nothing in the stadium yesterday with foul on Donnarumma, followed by the immediate penalty shout.

Teams are targeting every keeper at corners, not just our keepers.Teams are targeting Gigi’s at corners to try and make him make an error like yesterday, because it has happened before, but it is outright cheating and the officials should be clamping down on it
The goal shouldn't have counted. But that punch was diabolical :(
Well every team apart from us, are we ever going to score from a set piece? Lot of snobbery here, we aren't the elite team any more who can avoid this. Love to know how much time 'French' gets to work on set pieces as opposed to say 'Jover' at Arsenal. If Arsenal win the Prem, it will down to set pieces as much as anything.Teams are targeting every keeper at corners, not just our keepers.
Until there is consistent ruling and officiating, its going to be a bone of contention every week.
agree with you , need to start scoring from set pieces and corners ,thats an essential part of football.Well every team apart from us, are we ever going to score from a set piece?
