Borussia Dortmund (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

With hindsight it could be argued that the blips v Brighton and Spurs were down to a late pre season.

And I suspect a fair few teams might have a blip at Villa Park
We were really struggling in the holding midfield position without Rodri. Suddenly Gonzalez is delivering and that has given us a platform. Villa he wasn’t there.

Good performance overall but took foot off gas probably thinking of next Sunday and due to the short break from last Sunday
Who the fuck let that idiot in with the drum and the megaphone I dont understand why they travel so far to not watch the game jumping up and down swaying from side to side waving scarfs singing repetitive moronic songs Germans are a weird nation
The Dortmund fans were moronic. Constant robotic songs with no emotion. A lot of them did not even watch the game. That is not supporting your team it is just attention seeking bullshit. They did not respond to what was happening on the pitch.

Foden Haaland Donnarumma Rodri Cherki all playing well regularly, is enough to win the league, and maybe more.

As mentioned, a lot of others are improving too.

It makes those blips at Villa and Brighton hard to fathom?
Could have been due to no Rodders and Nico.

Yep, his progress in his first (half) season left him at a crossroads as his second season began but he seems to have turned down Rodri Road rather than on to Kalvin Phillips Parkway if you’ll pardon the appalling metaphor

Let's hope we keep this level up when we play the dippers, who we just know will suddently become prime Barca. Beat them and I think it's a two horse race for the title.

Early days, but who would bet against a City/Arse CL final?
Anyone with betting sense is the answer. :—)

[QUOTE="HowleyBlue, post: 18736427,

Why is Ronaldo shown as a united player in that list ? Surely he got most of his goals for Madrid.

Just checked. Only 21 of those goals were for United and he doesn't currently play for them so the only excuse forv even mentioning them is to shoehorn them into a discussion about world class goalscorers

I think it's the last team they scored for in the CL, hence Lewandowski showing as Barcelona, Messi as PSG and Raúl as Schalke 04

I don't know what game you were watching Savinho wasn't good at all
Giving the ball away, not finding the players in box and hitting the first man all the time
Just being useless as a winger

Plus pointing out the Cherki comes on for less time that that clown deserves and scores and makes things happen

I don't know what I have said wrong as I think Cherki is more effective that Savinho. Due to everytime I watch Savinho he isn't effective at all and should have sold him in the summer when we had the chance.

Sorry
No young player who has been here for about five minutes should be sold. Why do you think Spurs offered a big fee? It’s only a short while since people were slagging off Gonzales and Nunes. Be patient.

It’s because we have a lot of inexperienced players in the squad. Many are either young in years or early in their experience of English football that those blips against Brighton and Villa will maybe happen another four times this season because with inexperience comes inconsistency.

I’ve said previously that I think we’ll be the top scorers in the league, play the best football and will give some teams a right hiding… but eventually the inconsistent performances will see us just fall short this season.

I’d love to be wrong, but I just think it’s one season too soon with so many players in the squad 23 and under, signing 8 players in 2025 who are in the squad now (another 4 on loan), so many players who’ve never won anything in their careers and even a chunk who have but weren’t key players in their team at the time.
Yes, this is spot on. The more they play together, the more they create a groove and it all becomes automatic. Next year…..

Spitty says we are a one man team. Foden and Cherki disagree.
Some on here say we are not technically good enough. I respectfully disagree.
Pep says: bollocks.
Despite a spirited last quarter from Dortmund, we ran out comfortable winners. Midfield out of possession still a weakness (pressing?) but back four and keeper are pretty solid. A good team developing.
