The Labour Government

Yes, it’s embarrassing, but it’s the individual prisons making these fuck ups
There was a guy on the radio the other day (LBC I think), saying that the prison service struggles to attract good quality candidates. Some of the people working as prison officers, particularly in London, had a poor grasp of the english language and often didn't understand the complex release forms. This had resulted in errors being made, most were spotted but some weren't.

Lammy knew about this latest prisoner release last night and refused to provide an honest answer to the House today.

Outright dishonesty. The idea behind PMQs is to hold the government to account and to ensure that parliament can receive answers to the questions MPs want answered. Lammy obviously doesn’t give a fuck about any of that.

He’s clearly not up to the job, is well out of his depth and should resign.
Well, it was a stupid question. Unless you believe Cartlidge didn't know about the latest mistaken discharge. Honestly.

Not confirming is not misleading the house. He isn’t responsible for someone failing to do their job.
He is when he sets the rules. You see it all the time in business.

Corporate manslaughter? Chief Constables?

I have a bit of sympathy when the person at the top pays the ultimate price but that’s what they’re paid the big bucks for.

Would seem the MSM would have us to believe mistakes were never made releasing prisoners until Labour took office..

If you think PMQs is anything but a show, more fool you. Even Badenough stated that
There’s an obvious theatre to it, but it’s clearly wrong to consider it as purely a show because the answers given or avoided can have major consequences further down the line.

Ultimately Lammy’s bizarre behaviour today reflected poorly on the government and certainly didn’t give the impression that he’s on top of his brief. In fact he made a complete tit of himself.

He might as well go now for all the use he is. He doesn't know what's going on in his own ministry or if he does, he doesn't want to give any details to Parliament. Either way - he's a waste of space.
His head must be spinning tbf. He had his dream foreign office job not so long ago. He sailed close to the wind today in terms of looking like a total sheister. Disappointing

We should be glad he's emotional. People moan when our politicians are robotic so abit of contrary behaviour should please them.

Lammy was asked three times had there been anymore prisoners accidentally released, he’s supposed to answer the question yes or no but he tried to divert attention away from himself by claiming/accused the Tories of “letting prisoners out on the sly”

“Letting prisoners out on the sly” we need an enquiry into that accusation because I’m shocked if the public have been deliberately put in danger if Lammy was speaking the truth.

What about three in a week? The primary role of government is to safeguard its people. Lammy said strict new processes in place. Now it becomes a government issue. Labour are failing us.

The services we rely on are stretched too thin .. The Justice Service (who made the mistake) ,the prison service , the police , the probation service (probably the worse attempt at privatisation ever attempted)

What a f@cking mess this country is in

I agree it’s wrong that questions are never answered and that I have said before, the speaker should enforce it, but it will never happen and, never has. It is purely theatre as you allude and why I now no longer watch it.

As for Lammy making a tit of himself in the house today, I will have to take your word for it, but he would be another one simply added to the list of hundreds before him.

We will have to agree to disagree

Has no-one been watching PMQ the last few years? Avoiding answering the question has become normal.

It's another Tory-era situation that only came to light (aka gets in the Tory press) once Labour was in power.

Looks like they are going to introduce some kind of pay per mile EV tax.

Seems reasonable to me. With the transition to EVs and more fuel efficient vehicles the revenues from fuel duty must be way down, and these new “greener” cars are enormous and weigh twice as much as traditional petrol cars did 20 years ago so they must be doing more damage to the roads.

Some people will piss and moan about this but to me it seems like a no brainier.

I'm not sure people are only now getting annoyed at politicians not answering questions and only mentioning it now Labour is in Vic.

That is certainly one of the more desperate attempts.

"Look over there at what they did and leave my lot alone"

That card gets pulled out a lot.
