Help in surviving a knife attack.

This is easy to say when youre not in that scenario but the best solution is to attack back in numbers, you might be able to get away, but not everybody will and then it's far more likely somebody vulnerable gets harmed.

if somebody gets stabbed, if the first 3/4/5 people next to the attack immediately go after the attacker, there's a good chance somebody else gets hurt but you're also going to overpower the person and prevent further stabbings. whereas if everybody flees, the attacker is almost certainly going to get more people. The every man for themselves mentality is natural, can never blame somebody for it but fighting against that mentality is the best form of defence the public can have in these situations.

To be fair that video has some decent enough tips in there. Using bags or coats etc. when you start to get to the hand to hand side of it odds are, unless you practice this a lot, you will forget in the panic. especially the arms crossed thing. flipping between inside arms being protected would need practice I reckon. but good food for thought.

Yes without being paranoid becoming a little bit more aware of what's happening around you and having a bit of a plan in your mind in case something does go wrong is a start. It's just similar to checking your escape route and where the nearest fire escapes are if you're staying in a hotel.
In an unexpected attack most people freeze, mainly because their brain can't comprehend it's actually happening as it's so surreal. Once it does there's the adrenaline dump which triggers the fight or flight reaction.
Sad we have to think like this but unfortunately we do.

Krav Maga , it's more useful in a nasty attack than my 10 years of Jui-jitsu.

As others have said the best method of Your own safety is to run, but if You are being attacked and have Your kids and Mrs with You or You see someone else vulnerable that isn't going to happen with most people!
My sister does that shit.

That’s because Krav Maga moves are designed to do as much damage to the other person as possible in as short a time as possible whereas other martial arts are about getting the other person on the ground or in holds they can’t get out of without injuring them.

I think this is actually a good point to remember in any attack, terrorist or not. The attacker will often have the edge because unlike their victims they don't give a shit about injuring them. Most people are decent and don't like hurting or injuring anybody. An attacker will have selected a victim as they perceive them to be an easy target. If you're prepared to hit them with everything you've got without hesitation you will often turn the tables as it's the last thing they'll expect. Overconfidence is their enemy.

And then become the attacker’s main target?
No no I mean in a situation where you’re one on one with an assailant throwing a drink at him can throw him off balance, create a bit of distance and buy you a split second

Can’t find a video but this blog covers various kinds of objects to use as weapons or merely as distraction techniques although it’s largely common sense

Yeah I've seen this in action. My mate (black belt in some martial art) had some guy asking him for his wallet. He chucked the wallet in the air so he had to catch it. And then he lamped him once he'd caught it.

It was one of the best things I've ever seen. I've been waiting to get mugged so I can try it, but I'd probably just shit myself if it happened.
It’s always heartwarming to see a scumbag get what’s coming to em !

Not related to Krav Maga at all but this clip never fails to bring a smile to my face :-)
