City 10 Huddersfield 1 OTD 07/11/1987

Amazing match, there can't be many games with three hat tricks.
Wasn't their goal an own goal as well, so we actually scored eleven.

If I remember correctly, Malcolm McDonald was their manager. He was very angry after the game because he claimed at least two of the goals were offside.
I was also there for the 0-1. Unless I am getting confused with another game, there was an angry crowd around the main entrance after the game with police on the steps. Some fans were rocking the TV van as if they were trying to turn it over. There might have been someone filming from on top of it. A man had his little girl on his shoulders next to me and she was joining in with the 'you're not fit to wear the shirt' and 'you are s*** and you know you are' chants.

Ah, the good old days. I almost miss them.

I was playing non league football with quite a few blues in our team. No internet then but word was going around the pitch “7”, “8” etc but none of us really believed it until we heard Sports Report in the dressing room.

Travelled back from polytechnic in Pompey as British Rail were doing 1/3 fares that November.
Stood on Kippax with my dad. One of greatest days ever.

I know this is a bit to much information etc etc…..

But I distinctly remember where I was when we were in the process of smashing Huddersfield…
Sat on the bog listening to Piccadilly radio and their classic sports coverage…..ITS A GOAL……&……..OH NO

Also remember one of the songs that was interrupted with a “ITS A GOAL”…………The Final Countdown by Europe…..weird how some things just stick in your head;)

Stood on the Kippax and couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Half wanted to be able to see the vidi printer score,
Manchester City 10 (TEN) Huddersfield 1
Great game and followed up by banging in another 6 (SIX) a few days later against Plymouth that I was also there to witness. Tony Adcock grabbing another hat trick.
