Premier League Games | 8/9 November '25

A refreshingly accurate assessment, for once, from a comment on the BBC feed:

“This game highlights why conversations involving these two and the words "title challengers" should only end with the conclusion...no, not in a million years. Awful on the ball, just whack it and hope. Passing moves breakdown due to sloppiness. And they are both poor defensively, relying on last ditch tackles.”

Anyone as clear-eyed as this is neither a Spurs nor United fan.

It’s Noonsh isn’t it?

Similar to that, yes - Portuguese is a weird language so it's hard to map the sounds one to one with English (and depends on Portuguese/Brazilian accents of course). In Lisbon Portuguese which is what I'm most familiar with, the 'e' is pronounced, but it's very subtle, and yes the 's' is more like 'sh', but in Brazilian it's more like a 'z'.

I'd forgive them if it was just them mispronouncing a vowel, but since the Uruguayan Andy Carroll came to town everybody calls him Noon-yez. Which is just completely wrong and contrasts sharply with how much effort they put into pronouncing Sesko's name.
