26 | Savinho - 2025/26

But how much time can we give him when there's no end product from getting in some great positions. Chances are few and far between at the highest level and we can't really afford him squandering position and possession through poor final balls

He was our top assister last year.

Not a great shooter (yet, at City) but definitely has end product.

Savinho's not great at finishing chances. He's pretty good (to exceptionally good) at everything else and the stats show that.

No way he is our level, i feel sorry for him but I think that he wanted the spuds transfer says enough about his mentality.
Yes he is young but he gives me nothing where I think he will break out.
After made this post he puts the performance against dortmund. I think he was one of our 3 best players on the pitch and really shown quality. Idk maybe because he had more space. But 90% of the teams will park the bus and we need one there who can break the low block

One thing worth noting is that he can barely speak English. That has to be a factor.

Yea on the latest inside city he's using some (basic) English words so encouraging signs on that front at least. He's still very much settling, and yea he's immature and that is frustrating, but people have to remember how young he is. Patience is the key at this stage

Thought I’d remark on how well he did his defensive duties when he came on.

Nicked the ball a number of times and always got goal side.

Seemed quite telling he was seen as the safe option compared to Cherki's brilliant but erratic style. Could be a great 1 - 2 punch for us over the years, same as Marmoush and Doku on the left - if a team is set up to play one they'll likely struggle to immediately combat the other.

Came on and played the 'shithouse' role yesterday, i thought. Wound up the opposition, think there might have been one dive in there, generally was a pain in the arse. It's this kind of thing that can help win matches, or cement a lead and take some flow out of the opposition.

He is looking more comfortable each game, yes he has a lot to work on with end product, but there is a real player in him. He is also pretty rapid which is a good option for us. Just wish some blues would give young players time and be less vicious with their criticism, you can criticise all you want but do it in a constructive way instead of this angry / violent manner that pervades this forum sometimes

Wish folk would ease off a bit, not just Savinho but anyone who's new to the club (Reijnders is another one who's been coping a bit). How many examples we need of players taking a bit of time to settle, or young players needing a bit of patience.

Just read the last few pages of the post-match thread and there's someone complaining about Savinho coming on for Doku, just factually incorrect. And someone observing that once Savinho came on Gakpo started to get into the game. Gakpo came on after Savinho.

There's fair criticism and there's making your mind up on a player and then focusing on every negative.

At Girona he was a quality finisher he does have that in his locker its just at City we haven't seen it. Or we rarely see it, could be confidence , it just needs to click for him when it finally clicks and the performances like the one against Dortmund become more of a regular thing we will have a player on our hands.

I suspect it's to do with the pace/physicality of the game that's evolved into a confidence thing.

In La Liga you just get a split second longer and defenders aren't putting quite as much pressure on, because they don't get away with as much from the refs. He always looks rushed to me when he's taking shots on.

I think some just go with the opinion that City won and therefore everyone was great. Savinho was abysmal when he came on, did nothing but give the ball away. Marmoush was just the same when he came on.

We all want Savinho to produce at a level that justifies us turning down a huge bid for him in the summer but yesterday was not that level.

Lot’s of good points. Far too much criticism of players and not enough acceptance that we’re building for a very strong future. The club are investing time and money in players because they recognise they are going to be special.

Was he really though? Come on.

He wasn’t abysmal, he worked hard and that’s what was required.
