If Rodri is fit, I'd play both him and Nico. Newcastle's midfield is strong and physical so we've got to try and match them.
Donnarumma, Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O'Reilly, Rodri, Nico, Bernardo, Foden, Doku, Haaland

Bernardo on the wing is the first condition for us to lose the match.

Big test for us this. We need to start performing like we have at The Etihad on the road, and St James Park on a Saturday night is about as tough as it gets, despite their current problems. Burn being out is a bonus and hopefully Joelinton doesn't recover in time, just praying we don't pick up any injuries over the international break. Let's hope we get a performance like yesterday, not the one at Villa Park.

We were without both Rodri and Gonzalez (in the starting XI) at Villa. Hopefully both ate fit for Newcastle.

Well I'm optimistic .... I dont see any real reason why we can't win there, Newcastle have only won three of their eleven league games so far, and it doesn't seem to have been a bad ground for us over the last decade or so .... we also appear to have found a bit of form of our own now, as our 2nd placing in the table would suggest ..... Newcastles overall form appears to be a bit 'patchy', and if they are carrying the odd injury or suspension by the time the game arrives, then so much the better for our chances.

If Liverpool can win there, then so can we, so I'll go for a 2-1 City win.

Yes but they have Ramsdale who is a good sub. keeper. Joe Linton's was a gash/impact injury so I would imagine he would be back after the international break.

Newcastle played very well at home to Liverpool and Arsenal but lost both games. I think this is one of our most difficult away games of the season {Liverpool, Arsenal (done), Villa (done), Spurs, Chelsea, Man Utd, Newcastle}.
Yeah I agree. They seem to be a lot better at home than away. It’ll be tough up there I think Burn be a big miss for them

fair enough. I think bernardo should definitely start so maybe rodri drops to the bench if he's not 100% and cherki starts instead

Assume they'll go:
-------------Pope/Ramsdale
Trippier--Thiaw--Botman--Hall
-----Tonali--Bruno--Joelinton
Murphy---Woltemaede--Gordon

- Assuming Joelinton and Gordon will be fit in time.
- Ramsey and Barnes could come in if they're not.
- They could go with Ramsdale if Pope's out but little between them.
- Don't think Livramento will be back.

Obviously other injuries could happen in the break.

We win this and there is a real possibility we could win every game up until January.

I only see Palace away as the stumbling block as the game left for this calendar year after Newcastle away.

This Newcastle team is not the same team of the last 2 years. It looks a side that has stagnated with a manager that has maybe taken them as far as he can.

The Toon are heavily dependent on feeding off the crowd. In recent years we've had our successes at SJP by taking our chances when they came. Keep possession, quieten the crowd and break quickly. Do that and we'll win.
