I'd be slightly worried as their really aggressive at home. The return of Rodri

Actually, had second thoughts on the XI.
Donnarumma
Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O'Reilly
Gonzalez, Bernardo
Foden, Reijnders, Doku
Haaland
Let Cherki watch for now. This might be a day when the intensity gets the better of him. Newcastle are a different sort of proposition at St James' this season compared to what they're like on the road.
At home this season in the PL they're P5 W3 D0 L2 but have only lost games there to Liverpool and Arsenal. With that said, at home they have only beaten a shit Wolves team, Forest under Postecoglu, and Fulham.
But we know their fans will be up for this and we know that a team having a dodgy start doesn't mean much (if the Villa game is anything to go by). Plus, the first game back after internationals is always weird.
We know we'll get opportunities though. We have weapons that can hurt them. I think Pep is starting to believe in Ljinders' philosophy, that we can sit deeper as a team and win by waiting for the chances to come.

I was very impressed with Burn when he got sent off. Apologised to his team mates and fans and acknowledged the referee when leaving the pitch. Knew he had coocked up and didn't remonstrate or argue the decision. No Burn though, so that helps.
Don’t know if Rodri Gonzales in same team will work because Gonzales will have to change how he plays after just learning the role! Yeah he was an 8 when we bought him but putting back in an 8 is a risk for me! Gonzales for 70mins then bring Rodri on with him
Both can be hybrid 6/8.
Also, Bernardo was next to Gonzalez in the last league games. Rodri can replace Bernardo who played quite deep at times.
I think it is relevant , could have done without this break as our form has ticked up , this stop start approach wont enable us to build consistency. Not entirely relevant to the thread but can't believe we're into another international break. Seems every two weeks now.
3rd break in 3 months. And the fixtures are shite. Not entirely relevant to the thread but can't believe we're into another international break. Seems every two weeks now.
Based on a couple of years ago he can foul like fuck and be exempt from being sent offOpta:
"Of defenders, Kieran Trippier has the worst success rate in stopping opposition dribbles."
Undercover agent Trippier doing a fine job for us.Opta:
