Hi All.

Due to shitty genes I have to have a colonoscopy every 2 years. This time will be my 6th one and will be the first time I'll be using Plenvu rather than Moviprep which I've used on the previous 5 occasions. Anyone else been given Plenvu as bowel prep before? Have they found any difference between that and Moviprep?

Thanks

I'll let you know in about two hours dan. :-(

It doesn't smell bad, but I suspect that's a wolf in sheep's clothing type of thing.

Matron...

I can still taste Moviprep whenever I think of it.

I've had one colonoscopy, in 2019, and can say with complete confidence that the preparation was worse than the procedure itself. Slightly dazed from the sedation, the colonoscopy just felt like I needed to do a massive fart that wouldn't shift, but I was fully compos mentis for the Moviprep and my god I still dry-heave when it crosses my mind.

The first couple of sips were alright. Then I took the third sip and I started to feel a bit queasy. Then I realised I had to get through loads more of the fucking stuff. Every mouthful got worse and worse and worse. I couldn't even pause for a bit and return to it later because the nurses were constantly walking past, gently reminding me to keep drinking.

For those who've never had Moviprep, imagine, if you will: a glass of lemonade that's been left out in the sun for 24 hours, it's gone flat and lost most of its flavour, a drunk bloke has walked by and pissed in it, then someone has picked it up the next day, put it in the microwave for 30 seconds, added wet glue to it, and served it to you.

Ghastly.

Don't you mean "shitty jeans"?

It's disgusting stuff. If you've got a PM appointment it's slightly better as you can split between evening and morning drinks.
Don't bother with sedation. Go for Etonox if it's available.
Good luck.

I had Plenvu a couple of years back. Not a drink I'd choose but had no problem getting it down. Took it around 6.00 pm and nothing happened until about 8.30. Twice more, went to bed around 10.30 no problem. Second dose following morning was similar story. Slightly worried that drink I was allowed wouldn't clear but it did about an hour before I was due to leave. I was over an hour in the waiting room but was still OK.
Nurse during procedure asked if I'd had Plenvu as it was a bit unreliable sometimes. If you react same way as I did, you won't have much trouble.

I have just had Plenvu just this week and took in 2 doses....I have some ongoing health issues following 'tests' and they wanted look inside.....dose 1 was fine and if sip with water okay....mango flavour! . Dose 2 next morning was mix and i struggled getting it all down and was throwing up both ends. It works fine as prep but prefer a Guiness. Good luck mate take care.

I had one done in the summer and took moviprep, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Looking back I followed the dietary guidelines to the letter which made the time sat on the loo not too bad.

Have done the moviprep it’s the foulest stuff ever was told to chill it in the fridge will make it more pleasant. It didn’t make any difference still vile .
