Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Anyway very few Arsenal fans have negativity for Foden, maybe a few cretins on Twitter. It's only Haaland and Kovacic that any Gooners would get hot under the collar about and that's not at the level of VvD, Romero, Joelinton etc.

Problem is the few cretins on Twitter is a very loud few.. sounds to say but Arsenal seem to have the largest online fanbase and they all seem unhinged.

Can only hope it doesn’t affect Phil too much as I do remember him saying the online stuff got to him last season.

I reckon we have a better manager ergo they almost certainly have players that would easily get into our squad and some in our starting team.
Not sure I follow the logic there mate.

We both have elite squads. Some of the players would be interchangeable but as a City fan I’m happy with who we have and don’t want anyone that plays for Arsenal.

Well to be fair I'm an Arsenal fan who goes on a City forum to get away from online Arsenal fans so you do have a point there.

They're only loud if you are actively seeking them out. Block them or stay off Twitter altogether like a sane person and they're completely silent.

No one disputes that Phil had a below par season.

This term, he is back to approaching his best

Not.Sure.If.Serious.

Was very expensive, but it’s hard to oversell how important a player he is for his club and country.
And what exactly have his club and country won?

No I’m very serious I don’t see the hype at all. People go on about the guy as though he is at the level of prime Kante.

In my eyes he is a solid player nothing more

And, you are perfectly entitled to your opinion. I disagree, and I don’t rate an individual player based on what his team wins, otherwise City wouldn’t have had a decent player for about 40 years of my 55 yrs watching them!

Re Saliba, not only does he get into your side but his understudy Mosquera also would, and then if Mosquera got injured then the other replacement Hincapie also does. All 3 would walk in ahead of Stones. I really like Gvardiol so I exclude Mosquera/Hincapie comparisons with him although I think Saliba is better. All IMHO of course.

I think you’ve exposed a lot there.

John Stones would be FIFTH choice centre back at Arsenal? With 2 lads who have played less than 10 games between them ahead of him?

John Stones - who has been a key part of numerous trophy winning teams?

Except how many of those 40 years did City have a team good enough where a decent player could be the difference between them winning trophies or not? The icing on the cake if you will

However likewise you are also entitled to your opinion even though I disagree with it. With Rice though I just don’t see a player that warrants the hype he gets.

I'm happy with who we have but realistically a neutral looking at our squad and Arsenals would probably pick some from Arsenal in a composite team/squad.

What a load of shite.

Gabriel Magalhães has picked up an adductor injury playing for Brazil v Senegal . Gabriel is Arsenal's best defender and he is very effective at set pieces. There is no word yet on the significance of the injury.

Calafiori is a decent player but you have O'Reilly who looks quality so not really a need for him. Rice doesn't get in if Rodri is back at peak. You are a prolific poster but your comment about Stones tells me that you don't have a clue about football.
