Walter Mitty exposed

State of this helmet.

I'm ashamed to say that I've done this myself. I bought the uniform from an army surplus store.

You can imagine my embarrassment when several veterans approached me, asking why a WW2 Generalmajor from the Luftwaffe was in attendance.

If I'd only been 60 years older, and could speak fluent German, I think I could have fooled them.

This was at the Reform annual conference, yes?

They are now seeking to confirm the details of the army officer behind him. Can't anyone do a quick google search? At that rank you would be traceable.

Walter Mitty you say :-)

Worlds full of walter mittys. Football fantasists are rife; the bloke in the pub who nearly made it at a pro football , was on a pro clubs books as a kid, a knee injury brought it to an end etc etc

A dad at my lads footy tells everyone he was on newcastles books as a kid and played against nottingham forests youth team and played against stuart pearce.
Wish i was a bastard and point out that stuart pearce never played for forest youth team and is about 6/7 years older.
Cant burst the guys imaginary bubble tho

As much as Pearce was a crap manager, the story of his rise from non-league football is one of the best.

Yeah, if i had a quid for every hard luck story i've heard of people playing for clubs youth teams but suffering a career ending knee injury then i'd be loaded.
As you say, the worlds full of them

This one always cracks me up.

Went to my local remembrance service last Sunday and it was well supported by local people, council members, local clubs, voluntary groups, ex service people, police, fire service, cubs, scouts, schools etc. all laying wreaths and paying respects to our brave past.
The wreath laying started with the call out for the representative of the British Army - no response, second Royal Air Force - no response, third was the Royal Navy and again no response.
I couldn't believe it and felt gutted for the old soldiers stood there with pride who could have been asked to lay a wreath on their behalf if a wreath had been provided, but nothing just blank looks all round.
Perhaps it's because of what I witnessed last week that I saw this and thought "at least he was paying his respects", I get it that medals should be earned by serving your country and he doesn't deserve to wear them but the way he's being portrayed is a little over the top.

You should have just pointed at your medal and shouted Achtung Achtung

We have a woman from accounts posing as a Chancellor and the son of a toolmaker posing as PM, should the police arrest them too?

As a veteran of the Charge of the Light Brigade, a man who stood with Sparta that fateful day, and widely acknowledged as the tip of the spear at Verdun, I concur.
Wait a minute, it was the German’s attacking at Verdun.
