Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Honestly I don't think Arsenal are playing anywhere near their potential - too many injuries. 6 out of 8 attackers are out injured! But City are such an unknown in so far as they have a very high ceiling and if Rodri comes back in Ballon D'Or mode then it may be a case of 'hello darkness my old friend' for me and fellow Gooners. Let's see.
Are you throwing the odd midfielder in those six attackers? If not, tell me the six attackers please. Also the two who are fit, just for completeness.
Is Gabriel classed as a forward as most of your goals come from set pieces?

Injured are Havertz, Martinelli, Jesus, Gyokeres, Odegaard, Madueke.

Fit are Saka and Trossard. Merino is a DCM but has been playing as striker.
Edit Eze is also fit.

So Odegaard, Martinelli and Madueke are forwards? We don't class Bobb, Doku or Savinho as forwards . We class them as midfielders. Who are your midfielders then? Can't be many in your squad. By the way, I do know the squad liusts registered with the Premier League.

Midfielders would be Rice, Zubimendi, Norgaard, Merino, Nwaneri.

I'd definitely class Martinelli and Madueke as forwards- I'd class Doku as a forward, probably not Bobb, and Savinho isn't in the class of the Arsenal players I mentioned anyway and I think you know that.

Apparently they've agreed a deal to sign Semenyo from Bournemouth with Nwaneri going the other way but that doesn't go through until Jan.

I probably value Savinho above Trossard if I'm totally honest. Doku is a winger. We have two forwards. Haaland and Marmoush. What confuses me is how it was stated everywhere that Arsenal didn't have that out and out forward, Gyokeres was the missing link. Then, as if by magic, Arsenal have six missing all at once. I must have fallen under the spell of that hypnotist Arteta brought in.

Honestly I respect City and you have some superb players. But every time I watch Savinho (and I've commented on it in the matchday threads) I think he holds you back and isn't City level. Decision making is questionable. Should have taken Spurs' money and run.

Doku I like a lot and Bobb is a good player who had a nasty injury.

I'll respect Peps judgement on Savinho and as he's still only 21 we'll see how he performs going forward. I'm rarely in the match day threads as I'm at the game so I'll take your word for it. Not getting at you by the way, just letting you know how I see things.

Gyokeres, Havertz, Jesus, Martinelli, Madueke and Odegaard missed the Sunderland game.
Jesus & Odegaard are just injury prone now, they cant be relied upon and you've signed players to play given their injury record. Its like us saying Stones or Ake are out injured

Gyokeres was for a isolated game, not sure you can class that as having one of the "players out"

Martinelli I thought you guys all hate and wanted sold, saw you guys begging for Eze and saying how terrible this guy was?

Madueke & Havertz are missed but honestly I dont think either of those dont sit in your fully fit first XI (Saka is your best RW and I dont know where Havertz sits next to Gyokeres)

Gabriel is the only "first XI" player you're missing and thats only from this gameweek

So, basically your saying none of them really count as injuries. :-)

What amuses me is that all off season we were told that a striker was the missing piece of the puzzle and Gyokeres was going to come in and score a bucketload of goals but now the narrative has changed to him being crucial to free up space for other attackers.

Yet it is Gabriel & set pieces where they have been finding ways to win matches. Not sure why Arsenal fans can’t admit that so far Gyokeres has been very underwhelming and luckily for them their position on the table is masking it being called out.

I agree, Savinho isn’t up to much and he has an arrogance I don’t like.
