Media discussion - 2025/26

Thankfully, secret agent, Joey Barton, ensured that there was a generous amount of added time.
Am amazed the Mail (or whoever) have not mentioned and named the ex-City players in the QPR side - also Mark Hughes being their manager.
If City had pipped anyone else (apart from the Red Scousers) to the League, it would have been forgotten.
Are the Trafford Tramps trying take the "victim" trophy from someone else ?
Maybe this is their new line of attack for after we've been cleared of the 115.
We've had;-
Dirty oil money
Emptihad
115 charges
Peps looking tired
Boring football
Sports washing
UEFA charges

And those are just the ones I can remember.

I truly wonder how they justify the things they say, I mean, they must know and understand how favoured they were under red noses tenure?
The number of decisions that went their way is ludicrous, from cards not being given correctly, meaning a second yellow was never shown etc, to 'that' goal by Spurs that never crossed the line, that Arsenal game of kick anything that moves with impunity, play until you win rules, offsides or not offside depending who scored and so on and on and on.

They're fucking shameless.

My late dad had this in his kitchen until he died

The one that always annoys me - Scholes retired and released his biography, in it he stated that he deliberately went out to hurt people in certain games, the PL didn't punish him "because he had retired" and therefore there was no way they could - but he came out of retirement later that season, did the PL then look into it - did they fuck.

The QPR so called fixed game had nothing to do with united bottling a 8 point lead, coming to the etihad and not having a single shot on goal and also the 6.1. Rewatch the game and you will see that QPR wasnt safe until 10 SECONDS before the aguero goal. Some of there players thought that goal relegated them
8 points ahead with 6 games to go has to be THE biggest bottle job

'Murderers' has yet to appear on the list, although that's probably not for everyone.

If anyone was shafted that day it was Bolton, from the BBC match report;-

"To rub salt in the wound for Bolton, both the goals they conceded were controversial - the first because Walters knocked the ball out of Adam Bogdan's hands and into the net and the second as Crouch appeared to go down very easily under the challenge from the Bolton keeper in the follow-up to his own saved shot".

It's remarkable how this capitulation has been brushed under the carpet, by the Media.
Arsenal, quite rightly, have been recently tagged the bottlers.
But, the Trafford Tramps were always heralded as being fearless and ruthless, under the GPC.
Nah, they definitely shit the bed at the business end of that season - but it's never mentioned...

The Aguero season……they got all the decisions in the Cup Tie at the Etihad……the Kompany sending off ( After Rooney directed the referee) and the blatant penalty for the Young challenge ….I think on Aguero !

Yep should have said to Rooney any dodgy stuff you should look at your club seeing you were 8 points ahead with 6 games to go it should have been over!

We all know that Rooney is rather stupid, but it is strange how many think that he has a point.
So when the game kicked off QPR had 2 points more then Bolton.
He is saying that the QPR players tried to loose the game after they fought their way to be 2-1 in front 10 against 11 against city at Etihad.
So what should have happened is when the game had 15 sec left everyone just , so in 90:30 Kenny makes an great save from Balotelli , Kenny got the ball from the resulting corner on 90:48 he kicked the ball away on 91:05 . QPR was save on 93:30 so they had :0:50 to kickstart project lets all help City be champions . watching this video everyone in the QPR team in the last minutes were trying to prevent a goal just watch the video the attempted tackle on Aquero for example

Heavily influenced that game. So much so @Prestwich_Blue called Mike Reilly out about his selection for the game and old mother Reilly didn't see it as a problem!
I was at that meeting but it wasn't me that called him out. You could see from his expression when the penny dropped that it had seemingly never occurred to him. Either that or he was a very good actor.

I can however claim credit for pointing out the absurdity of giving an automatic red card for denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity when the offence occurred inside the area and therefore resulted in a penalty. My point was that the penalty effectively restored the goal-scoring opportunity and there was no need for further sanction unless the offence was serious enough to warrant that anyway (e.g. deliberate handball to stop a goal). The original point of giving a red card was if a DOCGSO occurred outside the area and you couldn't give a penalty.

Riley thought about this for a few seconds and said "Yes we've talked about that at PGMOL but we came to the conclusion that defenders would just wait until the attacking player was in the area, then foul them". Everyone burst out laughing at that, and it was pointed out to him that you could then give a penalty and a good chance to score a goal. It summed up the level (or lack) of critical thinking at PGMOL.

Regarding the football media's coverage of the World Cup Finals, where are the comments about human rights and sportswashing? The Qatar World Cup received unprecedented scrutiny and outright hostility yet there are no questions asked of this World Cup? Qatar does not have a significant military that operates around the world. The USA does. Yet you ask questions of Qatar, and ask no questions asked of the USA?

Over to you Barney Ronay and Dan Roan. Your silence speaks volumes.
