President Trump

He's asked for elected officials to be hanged today anyone else and they would be impeached and arrested.
All part of his plan to create a fictitious narrative that would facilitate the imposition of martial law in the USA and the consequent indefinite postponement of the mid-term elections.
Time for SCOTUS to step in as democracy is finished in the US.
Echoes of Nero ; Trump fiddles while the USA burns.

Leavitt defending his Piggy comments as predicted. He could literally be caught with his pants down in a local nursery and she’d defend it. One of the worst people imaginable. Completely sold her soul and will say anything for the dear leader. I hope her career plummets after he’s gone. I’m sure it will after a shit book deal

I still would though ;)

His "Quiet. piggy, quiet!" outburst at the female reporter on Air Force One is gathering attention, if only for showing that most of the press corps are too worried about keeping WH access to object to how vile he is. But it's a sign he's cracking; the election losses, the files coming out, the Comey case not going his way are putting pressure on him and if it keeps up there'll be more such moments and he'll combust.
I don't know how young or in what physical condition the female reporter is but if she is youngish, in decent physical condition I would have loved for her to lay into him & risk any criminal charges. The 79 year old, dementia & bone spur riddled, puffy ankled, tiny hands **** would not stand a chance against a young. fit female. How humiliating that would have been for him or even said to him when this plane lands I'll see you on the tarmac.

I’ve mentioned before on here, but really wish one journo would say enough is enough and stand up to him and call him out for his constant bullshit and attacks.

They would defo not struggle for work afterwards if that’s their worry.

A slight difference - Nero wasn't the one holding the torch

Especially if accompanied with a nose breaking head butt

Some good points, I also think (and not defending Trump, he’s a ****) but no Governent (Left, Centre or Right) has any chance of pleasing, whatever decision they make, whatever policy they bring in is now a tidal wave of outrage, fuelled especially by social media. The Media love it also as it’s a constant spin of News. Politics used to be bland and boring, now we’re in a Tik Tok world of swipers and bots having their opinion on everything.
We are certainly in uncharted territory. The media used to hold politicians to account. Now most of the media is part of the problem. Very dangerous times.

Many in the media still hold politicians to account. But when they are decried as “fake news” so often that millions believe this, then have reporters systematically excluded from pools and source sets, threatened with retaliation for negative stories with broadcast license non-renewals, and snowed under with lies every hour of every day by a series of talking heads, I can understand why you’d think it’s media that’s the problem, and not the politicians themselves.

One of those 'talking heads' was on MSNBC last night claiming 'Trump didn't mean what he said', and the media should 'tone down their rhetoric' as if they are the problem.

It's disingenuous bullshit.

I am thinking about the UK media. There are exceptions, but to be honest, I believe large sections of the UK media have become propaganda tools for the left and right of politics. You would be foolish to trust anything published in the Guardian or the Daily Mail. The entire lobbying system is also corrupt in my view and too many journalists are too close to too many politicians. I can't speak for the USA but presumably Trump's rise to power has been facilitated by a breakdown in trust between people and politicians which is wider than just Trump himself.

Yes, the differences between how the media acts and what they cover are fairly distinct between the US and the UK. That said, the “partisanship” aspects have widened and fragmented as the key outlets (broadcast networks, major periodicals) have lost market share and been replaced with thousands of niche, fringe sources of information, credible or no. I don’t believe a “breakdown in trust” between politicians and people has anything to do with it — people have NEVER “trusted” politicians as a class from time immemorial. It’s not new. Nearly any reading of history in nearly any context will tell you this. Were this true, there would be successful third parties, more independents with more influence in the states. There are effectively none save Sanders, and all must caucus with established parties anyhow. It is specifically Trump himself and how he has exploited and expanded that “always there” mistrust (which by the way is what Schwarzenegger did in California and Jesse Ventura in Minnesota — and both were highly-effective governors) that is what has brought us here — enabled by the GOP’s shocking moral cowardice in the face of Trump. Mitt Romney, John McCain, Jeb Bush — no establishment Republican would ever have done what Trump has done, nor would any establishment Democrat. People need to stop looking for root causes beyond that banal evil of the man — it’s fundamental.

That's a good point. The mainstream media vacuum has been filled by tribalism and hate on both sides fed by a myriad of partisan platforms. I read somewhere that the rise of facism and communism in the 1930s was fed by the new technology of wireless radio and that Hitler exploited this to the maximum. The centre ground pretty much collapsed. I think we are living in dangerous times unfortunately. Human beings never seem to learn the lessons from history.
