I

hmmm - they could easily boss the midfield if we don't get it right, and Gordon and the German fella will be a threat
Their midfield has been struggling, as has Gordon. The German isn't the kind of striker that can get in behind which is what usually hurts us.

Now live in the North East.
NUFC fans are getting a tad twitchy about their league position, especially their away form.
So steady Eddie is starting to get a bit of pressure to ensure they win at home.
Am hoping that City's returning Internationals (i.e. nearly all the starting eleven) are fully fit, as NUFC do not have nowhere near as many International players.
Think NUFC will come out "all guns blazing", so first 20 minutes will be frantic.
If City stay cool headed and don't get into a battle (they will target Big Erl and Gonzalez), think a 1-3 result...

To be fair I don't think the Colin Bell comparison is relevant I doubt we have Rodri running up and down the steps at Maine rd 2 weeks after coming out of an operation to build his fitness up , times have change he will have the best monitoring and recovery plan money can buy
He will be fully fit for when he leaves on a free to Madrid.

Going to be a very tough game this, wouldn't be surprised if it ends up a draw. St James is never an easy place to go, especially straight after an international break.

Am taking some encouragement from seeing that line-up from last season's game though. Their team is largely the same, whereas we're much stronger this time around.

Win, lose or draw, we've got a run of very winnable league games all the way up til Spurs away in Feb, so I won't be overreacting should Newcastle finally break their winless streak against us

(I do have a good feeling about today though)

Not the best game to come back from international duty and a late Saturday kick-off as well
But what a test for Pep and City in seeing where we really are as title contenders.

My thoughts are that the bigger the game, the more you learn about your team and what we are all about
Like Pep said, it's the start of this season's title race and time to put up or shut up

Newcastle
Hope it's not match we've seen at times in the past, where the opposition save their best performance of the season for us. A win here following on from the l'pool game would be a belter.
Just looking at Newcastle's results for the 10 matches they have played at home this season.
Won 7 and the 3 they didn't were against Barcelona, arsenal and liverpool
I thought it was way worse than that.
