None of my usual lot are going to the Leeds game, I can’t take my car next weekend as the wife needs it.
I’m going to have to catch the train from Bedford to Manchester… any tips or advice from anyone who has got the train from here or near here before? How to keep the ridiculous cost down, get the train to somewhere else first etc?
Would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Can you get to Milton Keynes instead? Possibly cheaper from there. Trainsplit will be the best website to get an idea of prices. Do you qualify for any railcards?

The cheapest will probably be MK to Brum, Brum to Crewe, Crewe to Piccadilly. Showing as £50 at the moment.

Are there any supporters branches nearby or passing through?
Unsure… not a supporters club in Bedford.

The two best routes IMO for keeping the cost down would be:

Bedford > Bletchley > Milton Keynes > Piccadilly
Bedford > Leicester > Nuneaton > Crewe > Piccadilly

National Express coach direct from Milton Keynes is about £40. Takes about the same time as the slow trains. Might be worth thinking about if you can get to MK easy enough.

Have you tried the coach companies - I think they run from Luton if that is any good for you

Can you not buy a very cheap car for your Mrs so she could use that 1,

The guy that used to sit next to me was from Bedford and said the local supporters club had a few season tickets spread around our block. His season ticket has now been taken by a local lad but there may still be some that attend.
