11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Wait who is the first?

The thing is he still barely takes any shots. Yesterday it was two goals from two shots. Few days ago he almost scored another goal very similar to the cracker against Liverpool but that was pretty much his only shot.

Hes a decent finisher, but being a decent scorer is more about being in a position to score rather than finishing. As Pep said he is never going to be a volume scorer, but he can definitely be a volume creator if he keeps playing smart and continues to work hard on the pitch.
Of course volume scoring requires getting in the position for it, but I think we are slowly seeing an uptick in that for Doku with this new role.

I know what Pep said, but I think he is wrong about this tbh, he can be BOTH a volume creator and goal scorer like Mahrez was.

Doku's potential in terms of performances in individual games is likely higher than some of the best PL players. The problem for him is consistency: over many games, a whole season, 5 seasons... If he finds consistency he's unstoppable.

I haven't seen all his games for Belgium because British TV has stopped running international highlights but my impression is that he's cutting in a lot more than he used too. I think he ended up playing as a striker late in the Wales v Belgium game.

Regardless of whether his role is changing, his form is far better and more consistent than it was. 12 months ago, a lot of fans had their doubts about him.

Player of his calibre should be getting an assist or a goal game he does that for a season that’s when he will looked upon as world class!

Funnily, this season Doku has contributed a goal/assist in the big games every 78 minutes, which is fantastic.

5 G/A in the following games:

United 2 A
Napoli 1 G
Arsenal (was excellent, no G/A though)
Dortmund 1 A
Liverpool 1 G (plus won a pen)

It's in the non-big games where he has struggled in terms of productivity.

Doku is much more involved in possession this season than a typical winger: he's like a hybrid between a winger and an attacking midfielder (No 10). Exciting to watch his further development
Hes doing that Neymar positional evolution earlier than expected.

Created our best chances in the first half and kept getting kicked by the toon twats, baffling decision to sub him off

Fucking class again. Should’ve had 3/4 assists. Behind in the game and he gets subbed for Savinho. Should have gave Pep the V’s and walked straight down the tunnel

Created 3 big chances in the first 20 minutes, all should have been taken, struggled to get him in the game in dangerous positions after that but didn't agree with taking him off, even if he was shattered he was realistically still our best threat against a side you know is going to play to protect what they had, nobody else was going to skin a man and get into some space. Newcastle couldnt believe their luck when he got subbed off.
