With Doku, we’ve seen flashes of brilliance but the final product wasn’t there. So he was on a shorter leash but he has answered the call and made himself into a supreme baller. Savinho has only been here a year and was decent at best. So he has a little longer leash. But he needs to take his opportunities

Incredibly unfair if so considering one is younger and has been here one season less.

This is big boy football. Cant coddle them forever. Doku has taken the challenge and is ballin!!! Savinho gets a longer leash but this is year 2. Sane improved greatly from year 1 to 2. I hope he steps up too

You really should know better. I’ve seen clips of the Haaland bloke but he just doesn’t touch the ball enough for me amd that would be another catastrophic mistake, were we to buy him.

Haha I see, but theres a difference between slippy and slippery:D

Doku really just glides past you and you need to make heavy contact to stop him which can easily lead to yellow card.

The thing is he still barely takes any shots. Yesterday it was two goals from two shots. Few days ago he almost scored another goal very similar to the cracker against Liverpool but that was pretty much his only shot.

Hes a decent finisher, but being a decent scorer is more about being in a position to score rather than finishing. As Pep said he is never going to be a volume scorer, but he can definitely be a volume creator if he keeps playing smart and continues to work hard on the pitch.

Of course volume scoring requires getting in the position for it, but I think we are slowly seeing an uptick in that for Doku with this new role.

I know what Pep said, but I think he is wrong about this tbh, he can be BOTH a volume creator and goal scorer like Mahrez was.

Doku's potential in terms of performances in individual games is likely higher than some of the best PL players. The problem for him is consistency: over many games, a whole season, 5 seasons... If he finds consistency he's unstoppable.

i honestly for the Love of God cannot believe how he's become world-class that fast just because Grealish is gone - most likely permanently. Belgium will certainly rely on him in the World Cup provided he doesn't suffer a serious injury like KDB.

Doku is much more involved in possession this season than a typical winger: he's like a hybrid between a winger and an attacking midfielder (No 10). Exciting to watch his further development

I haven't seen all his games for Belgium because British TV has stopped running international highlights but my impression is that he's cutting in a lot more than he used too. I think he ended up playing as a striker late in the Wales v Belgium game.

Regardless of whether his role is changing, his form is far better and more consistent than it was. 12 months ago, a lot of fans had their doubts about him.

Funnily, this season Doku has contributed a goal/assist in the big games every 78 minutes, which is fantastic.

5 G/A in the following games:

United 2 A
Napoli 1 G
Arsenal (was excellent, no G/A though)
Dortmund 1 A
Liverpool 1 G (plus won a pen)

It's in the non-big games where he has struggled in terms of productivity.
