Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

What’s he got against Marmoush?

The obvious first sub IMO was Foden for Marmoush, push him up to play just off Haaland as a second striker, give their CBs 2 players to worry about and a good finisher in the box who could get on the end of knock downs from Haaland or get on the end of crosses.

Pep seems to hate playing him, and only rate him as an emergency back up for Haaland.

I called for no cherki pre-match, felt it wasn't a game for him, don't know how Pep didn't see that coming but other than that, the side was correct, that performance was more individuals performing poorly than down to the manager.

His subs are questionable, they did nothing and we had zero threat once they came on and lost all our unpredictability in doku and to a lesser extent cherki (who was awful) but had he stuck with the starting 11 and the result stayed the same, we'd all be on here questioning why he didnt use the bench when hes got savinho marmoush bobb and reijnders on there.

Pretty much every loss over the past 18 months has been down to Pep picking the wrong side or the wrong tactics and there is some responsibility for that result with starting cherki and taking doku off but that tonight was largely the players fault.

You stick with what works. So the starting XI was fine in that sense, but still a bit too attacking and soft in the middle.

To be more solid in defence in more difficult games, I'd play Khusanov instead of Nunes and Gonzalez next to Rodri. Then one from Foden and Cherki at 10 and Marmoush on the right, or Doku right and Marmoush left. Marmoush offers more goals and is much quicker than both Foden and Cherki.

The problem is more that the board and Pep think that some of these players are actually good enough.

All the players who have left recently have improved their game elsewhere -Alvarez, Grealish, and Palmer . Grealish should have been a good option in this team, centrally or in a free role

Levels, mate. Levels. Although I'd have kept Alvarez and Palmer if possible but in reality Jack really wasn't offering a great deal in his final year with us.

All on pep today starting Bernie, cherki & Foden away to Newcastle is mental

Game management shocking today

Why would you bring savio on when we need to score ??????

Pep is running out of energy & ideas these last18 months.
Howe set up Newcastle brilliantly and did a job on Pep today. Yes they rode their luck at times but they won the game. We have too many players lacking that mentality we had so reckon it's going to be a long road back. To lose 4 premier league games already by mid November tells us where we are

Needs to come up with either a plan or sign an option that can bolster the midfield. We currently have Rodri, Lewis, Kovacic, Phillips, and even Nunes, all of whom are midfielders but none of whom can apparently be called upon at present to play in there. That leaves Gonzalez with far too much work to do, and Bernardo fielded here there and everywhere to glue other parts of the team together.

He was poor, alright, but a free role would have suited him more. Doku has been given a free role, and his performances have improved. Also, our team gives us a lot of chances in the last 20-30 minutes in all games, even against Liverpool and Man United; we conceded a lot of chances towards the end. He could have helped us keep possession better.
