Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Sorry, I know this is a City forum so I'll try not to tub thump too much but this is a side that finished a close 2nd to a treble winning city side and then another excellent City side the season afterwards. By a point. Since then this side has improved a lot. It's vastly better to the team that was pipped by City. So I think IF Arsenal win this season it will be with a side that would have won many other PL seasons. Certainly we'd have won the last 2 PL seasons with this squad if we go on the basis that a vastly inferior squad almost won in 24 and that Dippers side last season was nothing special they just had no competition.
Honest opinion. With three players in an offside position and two of those directly in front of the goalkeeper, should your second goal have been allowed?

TBH I have no idea about what the rules are these days, they seem to change depending on the ref and the direction of the wind. Keeper actually made a feeble attempt at saving it - it kind of went straight at him.

Was it offside? A yes or no would do. Would you complain if it was Tottenham who had scored it?
You can give an honest answer or be ridiculed for talking rubbish.

Just rewatched it. I don't think it impacted the keeper's ability to save it as the Arsenal players weren't in his line of sight.

Eze was such a good signing. I think a player we would have all liked. There's a chance they walk away with the league to be honest.

Still think this Arsenal side has some wobbles in them in the new year. Just dont think us, Liverpool or anyone else are remotely strong enough or likely to put a long enough winning run together to apply real pressure on them. So they can probably afford to drop a few draws or losses in Feb/March and it not affect their position at the top.
They've been knocking on the door for a few years now. They will not have a clearer run to the title than this season so you have to ask major questions of Arteta if he's not leading this lot to a title this season.

Great squad but weak mentally.
Arteta doing windmills on the sidelines.
The crowd going deathly quiet today when spurs scored.
You are the most bipolar set of fans I've ever known and that filters on to the pitch.
Those two seasons you mentioned you had one hand on the trophy but bottled it.
We just kept on winning. We was under huge pressure too but we coped.
If you win it this year then fair fucks to you but I fully expect you to blow a comfortable lead because you haven't got that mental strength to get over the line.

Going back to my conversation with bridgeno1 yesterday, fair play to Arsenal for doing the business this weekend when we failed to do so, but, whereas we thought that Spurs might come to Arsenal and shit the bed, they just shit their pants and didn't even get in to the fuckin' bed! They were terrible.

I hope they make a similar appearance when we get down to the Spursey Stadium next year.

Roll on February/March, I guess......!

Irrespective of the result as Arsenal would have won anyway it was offside. Like Robertson was offside and like the other one (Forest?) Joe Hart examples earlier. The officiating is at an all time low and a few tweaks of the rules can make a massive difference.

To be fair until yesterday he has been a bit underwhelming

Social media for you. 6 weeks ago Liverpool were running away with it. Now Arsenal are running away with it. Get a hat-trick and you are the best player ever.

Arsenal still have a mentality issue, not easy to change that. Let's see how they manage the run-in if anyone can put even the slightest pressure on them.

We need to go back to offside being offside.
This subjective way of doing it is bollocks. In fact let the ref make the descisions they are better than VAR with all this slowed down bollocks.
If it takes 5 mins to disallow a goal that cannot be right.

They already wobbled against Sunderland, their heads completely fell off, and Spuds only ever seem to turn up against us, so I wasn't expecting much.

I do feel like the two resident tarquins of the forum are self fellating whilst sending milquetoast backhanded comments on here, mind, but maybe it's just me. But we've been here before many a time.

When it gets to wobbly time they may have a huge gap ............they dont win it from here he deserves the boot

Well said. There is always such a knee jerk reaction after individual matches. It was over the top in our favour when we beat Liverpool and now it is over the top in favour of Arsenal because they did what they have done since the beginning of time and defeat Spurs in a home derby.

Our job is just to make sure that Arsenal are not out of sight after the first 19 matches because history wouid suggest the 2nd half of the season is when a Man City team truly do come to life.

You mean it took five minutes to manipulate an image to arrive at the desired result
