With a trip to Madrid , a likely defeat, coming up Pep under no circumstances will go down an experimental road for this one. 3 points are a must, the Germans are not mugs, and the manager will give them the respect they deserve.
Spot on. Especially as we will have FA Cup games and a potential League Cup Semi Final to balance in January. If we can be virtually through to a Play-Off at least in the Champions League before Christmas then all the better.

Tapsoba and Andrich suspended for them, altogether 7 missing.
We know Quansah as CB.
Aleix Garcia as double pivot with Maza.
Ech could well start, for psychological games.

They have stabilized after poor weeks.
They'll sit deep and go for the counter, packing the mid.

Bernardo and Sav on 2 yellows,
would miss Madrid away if being booked.
I'm loathe to say it but, a result tomorrow and we can send the 'B team' to Madrid.

The results there will mean little to nothing with the CL league and we can be ready for Palace away....3 points there is worth an awful lot more than busting a gut and possibly getting nothing in Spain.

Donnarumma

Nunes Stones Gvardiol Ait-Nouri

Reijnders Gonzalez Cherki

Savinho Marmoush Doku

We can't keep playing Haaland he's going to need a rest and it's schedule packed season time. We've got 12 games in the next 6 weeks so definitely time for rotation.

Home advantage and still good enough to win.
Forget it. Haaland will insist to play

Any appetite for resting Haaland and playing Marmoush?

I am not in favour of it but the idea did pop into my head. A lot of other football fans have labelled City a one man team. In part we are and we need to find other goalscoring threats. Marmoush is the obvious player but so far we haven't found a role for him with Haaland.
Haaland is now at a goalscoring level like Messi and CRonaldo were where he will very rarely, if ever, be rested in the CL… maybe even go as far to say the PL n’all. Both Messi and CRonaldo would pretty much always play in the CL and La Liga if they were available.

As well as being a City player, Haaland is a brand himself and he is after goalscoring records in the PL and CL. He’s on course to break Shearer’s PL record by 2029. He’s on course to break CRonaldo’s CL record in another 90 CL games (he is averaging 9.7 CL games a season with us) so could possibly do it by the end of his contract with us. He’s also on course to score 389 PL goals by the end of his contract with us, which would break Jimmy Greaves’ English scoring record.

He won’t break those records by being rested. If Haaland is fit, he’ll play (unless we’re already through for the Gala game or something like that). It might even be part of his contract.

It's not Pep who refuses to give Haaland a rest, it's Erling who wants to play every match, even when we're leading by two or three goals and it's the 75th minute. If he hasn't scored yet, he stays on the pitch to score. In short, this also applies to Mbappé and players of that caliber; they also play to score and break records.

Haaland is arguably the fittest player in the World. No need to rest as he was relatively quiet on Saturday. There will be some opportunities to give him a rest before the turn of the year, either from the bench or taken off on the hour. But we need to get others scoring goals.

He may be one of the fittest but he can still get injured.
Its a conundrum because he wants to play all the time

Had the pre-match club email asking me to manually download ticket, which it won’t let me do when I try, and the usual auto update hasn’t put the ticket in the phone wallet either (like it normally does). All a bit odd.

Their team and subs from the weekend, includes ex blue Aleix Garcia
A few other names who weren’t able to cut in the PL

Pleased to see Aleix Garcia has made a good career for himself, including breaking into the Spain team which is never an easy feat for a midfielder. I always thought he looked a player when he was breaking through. Saw he had some nice words to say about his time at City today too.

I can see haaland being rested for this one, but a what do I know.
I'm not sure about that. We need a win to maintain a top 8 place, with Madrid to come. If we play like we can, we will.win, and hopefully Haaland can come off in the 2nd half and have a rest. Then into the ice bath at home.
