Is the club going to put in an official complaint about the officiating on Saturday?

We weren't good enough to get a result. We weren't robbed by the officials. Even if they made errors or were poor... it wasn't blatant corruption.

Pep needs the squad to work harder to score more and concede less. Obviously. Anything else is a waste of effort and an unnecessary distraction.
You are dismissing the fact that Newcastle were allowed to persistently fowl with no yellow cards awarded
Tonali should have been sent off with the number he committed
I think he went through the back of Doku three times in the first half alone and all were borderline yellows by themselves

Pep himself thinks it is bent

His press conference yesterday he more or less said so

He told the press that to win the league we had to get 100 and 98 pts

He has said in the past we have to do more on the pitch than others, others get preferential treatment.

Watch the Netflix series once the 115 charges announced, he says it then and started the huddle in the middle of the pitch

If anyone can watch that foul on Foden and not see it was ignored by the ref and VAR on purpose then SpecSavers should be your next call

Moments like that affect games.

Not an official complaint, but those cartoon visuals need to be investigated.
We have our own technical department that can scrutinise that visual. I saw in real time that they did not add up. A mistake or otherwise.
After studying them I am confident they have been compromised.

One can imagine the outcry if the club made a complaint without concrete evidence.

The Foden incident, a joke, remember Villa getting a penalty at the Etihad for the slightest Dias touch last season, a VAR overturn.

He's hardly the first manager to suggest it's bent against his team.

Its simple although maybe not official. You take someone out on the halfway line you take him out of the game for a period of time. The ball is in play.

In the penalty box you shoot then get fouled the ball is out of touch. The tackle in itself has not affected anything in play.

The common sense solution is yellow card and a dead ball kick.

As for the thread title fuck me its small time and embarrassing, we ain't candlepool.

People dont care much for common sense.
Often in a 'one on one' situation you see an attacker push the ball too far past a goalkeeper and it's going out of play only for the goalkeeper to then clatter him and the penalty is given. I have never seen a referee exercise your 'common sense' rule and take the view that since the attacker was not going to reach the ball and it was going out of play the penalty should not be given.
Also the defender by his position and the way he runs towards Phil is clearly influencing the way Phil gets his shot away and the consequent miss. The defender is of course entitled to do this but he is not entitled to finish of his run with the foul.

Var is shite, its just another layer of incompetence. I would rather the ref just made his decision and that's it like it used to be. We gained last week when Liverpool had one struck off for nothing. Both decisions at Newcastle were marginal. Once you get your shot off refs rarely give you a penalty. And the offside uses technology so you got to go with the tech as it effects everyone the same.
Bollocks. You are very naive if you think that.

They should absolutely be doing it IMO - this wouldn't be dipperesque sour grapes (one thing that doesn't go their way in amongst a sea of favourable decisions), city were thoroughly shafted on Saturday and it needs highlighting and forced into the media. It won't change the result, but it might make the cheating twats be not so so brazen in future matches.
I agree but who in the media would support us. I think that the PL want Arsenal to win the league this season, which is to me the probable explanation for the bias officiating v Newcastle.

A subjective decision and Liverpool get the audio and huge scrutiny for 2 weeks after the game. We get at least 2 howlers and not a peep from anyone .
Which is precisely why we should not make a formal complaint or be demanding audio. City complaining would get about the same public sympathy as the tax office going on strike for more money, zero. We need to suck it up, have a siege mentality, and be good enough to win despite the bias, we have done it multiple times, and would have done so on Saturday if we had taken our chances.

The very least the club should do, is ask for comms on both incidents and make them public. It’ll be interesting to hear how they come to the conclusion of no pen!

Referee might say didnt get a good view or he saw it and said he got a Knick or the ball had gone! Var Pawson not fit for anything! Would of looked at that and thought yeah ball had gone and no conclusive evidence that the defender didn’t knick so in Pawson useless mind is not enough to overrule the referee!

Thing is with var or referees there is always an excuse they can spout why a blatant pen cannot be given!

I’ve just watched our bit of ref watch on YouTube. Not sure who the other guy was (Jay Boothroyd I think) but he looked absolutely incensed with the decision. How can it not be a foul, how can it not be a pen and wht does there have to be a yellow card for it to be a foul and a pen? It was a 2 footed off the ground lunge that caught the player on the lower leg and frankly could have broken the leg, and the challenge caused the shot to be off target. It was 101% a pen. The handball was 50:50. The one on Dias which I didn’t see in the ground was also a pen but was less obvious I Dias didn’t start it as such, at most he pushed him away and he didn’t have his opponent by the neck. The offside I have watched since and I don’t think was even mentioned in ref watch? it was 100% offside and for some reason (we know why) they didn’t even draw the lines. Bent as fuck

Edit - the one on Foden was 100% AT LEAST a yellow card, that doesn’t excuse the mistake it means there were TWO mistakes. For me it was a 2 footed off the ground out of control lunge and was a penalty and a red card
