Will we win the league this season?

We've scored the same amount of goals as Arsenal.

The flip side to your argument is Arsenal are far too reliant on set piece goals and not scoring much from open play like us.

Sure, adding threats of goals from corners etc would be nice, but we're not doing too badly scoring.

I'd say a bigger problem is we're completely reliant on Haaland.
We have a new set piece coach this season. It's obvious that Pep unlike Arteta is not giving him the time to work on attacking set pieces with the players. Foden just floating the ball in, seems to be our only way , a waste of time , so easy to defend. Arsenal look dangerous from every one.

And Arsenal aren't scoring as many goals from open play as us.

We'll see if that hinders them as the season progresses.

If I was a rag I’d be ordering a new counter banner on us next winning the league. Be the only thing they have left to cling to mind

Normally I wouldn't be concerned about Arsenal being better than us but they've been 2nd/3rd best for a while with their "younger core" while we've gotten older and need a rebuild just at the right time for them..

We were never going to win it every year.. and I don't think we're ready for it this year.

But we have to put pieces in places that fit.. and for the moment it seems they don't fit. Pep could yet work miracles like Nunes at Right Back in other positions but it won't be overnight.

At least another transition season.. hopefully in the top 4!

Arsenal will finish between 10-15 points ahead of us. We are miles away from a title winnning side.

Chelsea looks like a very strong team; their midfield can rival Arsenal's. Estevao looks like a special talent. The only area they are weak in is the CBs.

Our chances have taken a serious hit tonight because now we have significantly increased the load in our season and we have demoralised young players such as Reijnders and Savinho. I suspect that Savinho will have to be taken out of the side now.

We criticise Arteta for his panicky behaviour under pressure but we should also recognise that Pep can behave erratically too.

They are a very young side that sometimes lets games drift just as we did in the 1st half tonight.

They have lost a few games because of red cards. Both their 100 million midfielder look great, and with Palmer coming back from injury, they will be better.

Yes I know. I have said before that Chelsea might be title contenders this season if CP comes back. They are very raw though and inconsistent.

As I said above I still think it’s too early. Loads of the season is still left.

However I think we look mentally and physically tired. Pep looks burnout as well. I reckon this was always going to happen after such a long period of success

I was gung ho closer to the beginning of this thread, but the reality is, unless we drastically improve in most aspects of the game (mostly others putting the ball in the back of the net), not a sniff.

I'm starting to think Pep is burning out as well. I have been of the opinion that he would refresh and go again, but I'm starting to see some signs of a man at the end of his time with us. It has been a glorious time and we will never see the likes again, but right now it feels like the end.

That young 27 year old midfielder! Don’t think there was anything panicky from Pep last night. More arrogance bordering on stupidity. Was looking to save players legs and may have to play an extra 2 games at full tilt because of it.

I didn't fancy us at the start of the season and certainly don't fancy us now. 4 league defeats out of 12 is not the form of a side who can push all the way. It's another season just trying to build up a better side who can be better placed in a couple of years to have a real go for the title again.
We just need to keep qualifying for the CL as that brings in the funds and appeal of the club to attract top class players.
A telling factor is that only 2 of the summer players we brought in are actually starting on a regular basis, Reijnders, Alt Nouri and Trafford don't appear to be in Pep's starting plans at the moment and Cherki blows hot and cold. On that basis, only Donnarumma can be considered a definite starter.
From January, Marmoush has the odd flash of brilliance but not much else and Khusanov is struggling at times.
It's looking like a Pellegrini last season side, lots of impressive performances mixed with large doses of inconsistency.
This current team will get yer hopes up and then disappoint the next week. Its going to be a bumpy ride!
