There are quite a few English players now that not only fulfil our needs but are excellent players in their own right. There is an argument for all of the below would be an improvement and also possible, expensive but possible

Livramento
Anderson
Wharton
Olise
Semenyo

The passion we have is sadly lacking I would go further than just buying British I would like to see some more local talent come through.

But as an aside I think most top teams are suffering from having prima donna players who have made the big time and couldn't give a fuck anymore not just City.

We should have been all in on Rice.

Rice seemed happy to join City or Arsenal and when Arsenal upped their offer we just gave up as we considered it too expensive.

You’ve got to spend the cash if you want the better players.
He never wanted City, once Arsenal were involved and that’s just how it goes sometimes.

Whereas the fans love it and can’t wait for players to turn out for their national sides!

Most of the fans don't, the stadiums are full of people who want to see an event, the day of supporting your national side in this country are behind us.

You can see that on the England match thread, nobody gives a fuck other than the selfie taking gimps and the odd hard core fan who still naively believes the England side is there to represent a nation.

I know. The exclamation mark was to make that very point…

We were quite happy blowing 100mil on Grealish, 40+ on Phillips, 50+ on Nunes,

From what I remember (and how we operate), we wanted Rice to declare he only wanted us as it gives us better negotiating leverage. He didn't want to do that, as he was genuinely happy to go to either - plus Arsenal had put in lots of legwork while we fannied around after Bellingham.

When he wouldn't do that, we pulled out. Then tried to sign Paqueta. Then had a choice between Eze & Nunes and went after Nunes because Wolves were easier to deal with.

Absolutely spot on. Could not agree more.

This is why I'm willing to give guys like Phil and NOR a bigger chance than others because we need them to be the face of the club.

Especially Phil. Kid bleeds blue.
