Madrid Away

I see Newcastle have formally complained to Uefa about the treatment of their fans at the hands of the French cops last night.
I don't think City have ever complained about any of the many times our fans have been assaulted.
(Who was the Chairman of a Football League club but a City fan, who was battered as he crossed the road in Madrid ?)
Sadly Blues you will be on your own again for this trip, the club won't say a word.

I was the City fan who jumped in to help him and got a good hiding for my troubles

The fact that the club never once mentioned the way our fans were treated in Istanbul, despite the fantastic report that Alex Howell from City Matters put together, should tell us all we need to know.

When we were banned from CSKA they took details of fans being out of pocket and then did nothing with it.

The Madrid Police have always been intimidating around the stadium, but strangely (and in stark contrast to the other English clubs) my experience of the Parisian Police was surprisingly positive, both last season and also the Quarter Final in 2016.

I also recall speaking to some PSG fans after the QF and being told that we were the friendliest English supporters they'd ever encountered (I think this was just after the Chelsea-racism incident on the Paris metro)

There was another when the son of a City member of staff had his arm broken by a baton, simply for just waiting for his Dad near the turnstiles after the game.

A mate of mine got baton whipped for bending down to pick up his ticket (that he dropped on the way in). 67 years old.

Last time we fucked the match off and watched the game in a pub. Far more pleasurable experience.

Horrible cunts.

We turned up at that bar on the corner just after the incident with the police

It was a bloodbath. City fans lay on the floor, others wandering round with blood pouring out of head wounds. Women and kids crying

Fucking well out of order

I went for a piss during the champs league semi in Mdrid and was kept on the concourse for the entire second half (with loads of other blues) told by stewards it was full.

They we begging for us to kick off so the police could charge in with their sticks !

Fortunately we didn’t actually miss much in what was a terrible game ( when Pellegrini was boss ) but what an absolute fucking farce causing loads of blues to miss virtually the entire second half of a champs league semi for doing nowt.

All points well made re; previous trips to Madrid over the last 10 years and more. The early visits to the Bernabeu were beyond belief , in terms of the various police agencies involved . The treatment of large number of City fans was a throw back to the dark ages. It was always about the police , not Real Madrid fans.
We've been there many times since , and I think its got better. The police seem to have stepped back a bit. I could be wrong.
Real Madrid have got us as fans, jumping through hoops in terms of having to collect tickets with passport id etc. from the Etihad or in Madrid. We played Villareal , another Spanish club recently , non of this nonsense.

Its never easy watching City at Real Madrid. That said, if you can , get out there . Madrid is a wonderful city.

Ditto

I was at both those games

First one with the Missus, Lots of Police dressed in Riot Gear, but no issues.

Intimidating, but stood off and watched everyone calmly.

And last time, we were not held back for too long, by my recollection :0)

On all my recent travels overseas City Fans are conditioned to the fact that we are going to be held back for a minimum of 30 minutes!!!

And therefore, don’t bother to rush to get out??

Will be experiencing the City Away End at Madrid in a couple of weeks, hoping for a good night and no involvement with the Spanish Police??
