Leverkusen (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

So true. Your team chooses you. Well in my case anyway, both parents, neither of whom from Manc, had no influence whatsoever when City, or should I say Nelly Young chose me in April '69. It's a pain if you live far away, I was lucky to be local.
Around a similar time for me - it was only when a mate told me that his favourite player was Eric Martin ("who's he, then?" 'the keeper, you idiot!') that I found out that Southampton even had a team. Wonder what happened to it...

Interesting on the defensive setup and how Bayer were able to pass through us. The one part i'm unsure of is how much of this was down to the personnel, how much the tactics and how much the lack of understanding throughout the team due to them not all regularly playing together.

As lovely as that sounds, it's not true is it? You saw Colin Bell playing for City and decided they were your team.
Nope - that was my first match, choice didn't come into it. Had it been Jimmy Greaves, I'd still be a Spurs supporter today.

I hope you're not as soulless as your posts make you sound... :-)

Of course they can. You can read my posts back but I'm a bit bored of explaining what I said. For the last time, I was pissed off myself. I thought we needed the win to avoid the play-off. I walked back to the car on Grimshaw Lane ranting about Pep's selection and the performance of a lot of the line up. What I didn't do though, was bring my 5 hour round drive into it, because it was my choice to move away from Manchester in 2000. I go to watch City because I choose to and don't expect extra credit for travelling, nor do I expect Pep to consider my travel time when he names the team. Is that clear? Tit.
Have a box of chocolates you utter whopper.

250 quid for tickets travel and accommodation, I don't want to ever hear Pep moan again about the fans not bothering, still fuming, wasted my time and money
'Anticipation is half the pleasure' goes the saying - not when you're keeping everything crossed right up until the moment that you see the team sheet, it's not.

We are short of another top midfielder, plus Rodri, and definitely a class wide man.

We should be sorted in central defence, however Gvardiol really needs to step up.

Not sure about the full backs….Nunes has been really good this season, better than I ever imagined……is he good enough to help get us back to where we want to be…..O’Reilly is pure class, but could he be the player we need in the middle…..which leaves questions about Ait Nouri….too early to write him off plus he’s been injured..but is he also good enough.
Agree with you! Need a class midfielder ( Anderson) and a right back, no matter how well Nunes has done! He is still an accident waiting to happen!

I don't think the Newcastle game had anything to do with it. We played pretty well there and with a bit more luck and better officiating we could and should have at least come away with a draw. No Pep looked at the opposition, looked at the quality we had and thought, probably rightly, we had enough to get the job done. If not he had the big guns on the bench to bring on. It backfired badly but i can see why he took the gamble. Ten changes was just too much but shit happens.
Think your standards have dropped we should be beating teams like Newcastle if we have any chance of winning the league draws are not good enough and they had better chances then what we created Barnes missed an absolute sitter he should buy semanyo in January he scores and creates goals savinho is not the answer

Nobody's standards have dropped. We are a team that's rebuilding and have lost Gundogan, De Bruyne, Walker and atm Rodri, all world class players. We also missed two very good chances, both before they scored. The officials didn't help either. Newcastle at home are a hard team to play. As for Savhino i don't think many of our fans rate him.

Maybe the Club and Pep know the result of the 115 charges and did not want the high value players to get injured in the event it becomes a ‘ Fire Sale’.

On that basis alone let’s hope he doesn’t play the same team against Leeds.

Speak for yourself. The first time I was allowed to stay up for the football, there was Colin Bell - and that was it.
Like me with Nelly and the '69 Cup final. I've posted the story a few times. Staying over at my friends, ( who coincidentally had same first name), we couldn't play out ( we were 11, it was raining), her dad had the match on. Have broskis, no interest in footy anywhere in the family, I was a girly girl, but by heck what the hell happened that afternoon?? City chose me!

Who said he was world class? You're a weirdo who ranted about him after a game he didn't play in and then called back to that same game thread. Odd odd behaviour
You clearly have never kicked a ball in your life, rugby player?
