Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Were some of you as angry when Sterling scored right at the death 8 years ago against Southampton?

We played rubbish that game also. I remember some saying the goal papered over cracks.
This is what I'm going with.

The Soton win spurred us on that season to better things. Hopefully the Stockport Iniesta has just lead us to do the same.

Literally every game this season we have come out for the second half looking leggy and off the pace. Yet Pep just sits there staring into space.
I think that’s been going on for years!

Even at our very best a few years ago we would often come out after half time like we’d been sniffing glue in the changing rooms. 2022 home game against Liverpool springs to mind when Mane scored a minute after half time and we weren’t half as good in that second half as the first, finished 2-2 after working so hard to take the lead twice in the first half… 2018 potential title winning game against the Rags, 2-0 up and flying first half yet came out for the second half like we were high on ketamine and lost the game 2-3.

Never helps when 40% of our fanbase have still got their small-time mentality and think the half time beer is more important than the match. Yes, that was the case for some of the 80s, 90s and 00s, but we’re a top club now. We need to start acting like it in the stands and get that stupid old school small-time mentality out of us once and for all.

Didn't that goal extend our league winning run to 12 or am I mistaken.

Surely you aren't comparing the 2 sides because that would be crazy right?

Agreed mate. The lack of control and authority whilst 2-0 in the 2nd half was diabolical. Back in the day the likes of Kev, Gundog and Dave would’ve just kept the ball for 45 minutes and not given those cunts a fucking sniff.

...and people on here complained at how boring that was.

We won today when everyone thought we were going to drop points. We're in a rebuild and not the finished article. But I hope the players use it to get that never stop fighting spirit.

Things might be worse than I realised

I don’t know whats happened but these guys haven’t actually performed in 3 games.

Foden was hugging the touch line when he’s a midfielder. Haaland was isolated, no goal in 250 mins. Getting peppered by the leagues 2nd worst attack and struggling against the 4th worst defence AT HOME. Leaving Cherki to only play 29 mins. Marmoush on 300k another 3 min cameo. Doku still gets told to be high and wide. There was no tactics just hope and pray Doku does something. Yes Leeds were super narrow but Arsenal scored 5-0 against these lot.

From what I say
Gvardiol has to be dropped. Starts Stones or AK 45
Might have to go get someone in Jan, because we’re holding on for dear life.
It’s unlikely Doue or Olise leaves and Rodrygo is worse than all our players rn. Might aswell see what’s going on with Semenyo

I’m sick of hearing this “we’re in a rebuild” bollocks mate.

When you rebuild something the idea is to build it back to the standard it was before.

The reality is we’ve replaced Alvarez with Marmoush, Mahrez with Savinho, Walker with Nunes, Kev with Reijnders and Gundogan with Gonzalez. All inferior to the originals.

City have clearly misunderstood what rebuilding something actually means.

Sure. If thats what you want to take from my comment. Have at it champ.
But that's the point though surely?

Against Southampton we were coming off the back of winning 11 league games on the bounce and had just cemented top spot of the CL group with 5 straight wins.

By all means yes they are late winners but I'm not sure what the comparison is?

It’s bizarre how many fuck off with between five and ten minutes to go in the first half, that’s before we get the early dart merchants.

Stick to United

Don't know how anyone can defend that. Leeds are shit, been shit all season they are 18th with a -12 goal difference and that wasn't apparently their strongest eleven, that we nearly shit the bed against.

We have one, he’s slowly coming back from an ACL tear.

Problem at the moment is an inability to turn first half dominance into bigger leads and keep allowing the opposition stay in matches. We could and should have been 4 up at half time. Second half a series of howlers from Nunes gives them a goal and then poor decisions from O’Reilly and Gvardiol give them a penalty. More mistakes from Nunes keep us under pressure.

For me we really struggled to get Doku and Haaland involved enough. Would like to see Marmoush get some time wide right as we don’t have enough other threats that allow teams double up an Doku.

Gvardiol is on fumes and should be rested. Nunes is showing he’s a midfielder. Reijnders has been really disappointing recently, constantly in good positions but never scores and not good enough out of possession. Hopefully he will improve working with Pep.

The team needs a right back, a midfielder and a right winger.

At least our keeper finally saved a penalty. We have some really good players but not great team yet as too many flaws. Still feels we’re moving in the right direction albeit occasionally staggering forward. At least we won a match without Erling scoring.
Nunes is not a midfielder. He’s certainly not a defender, barely looks like a footballer

Marmoush still looks awful. He looks way of it and his touches are always loose. His ball retention is poor. One of the worse bits of transfer business for me.
He played 3 mins. And got on the end of the only successful cross. He’s on 300k but Pep doesn’t give him mins.

14 months since Rodri’s ACL btw. Still hasn’t been on the bench. We haven’t heard a word.

Just go sign Anderson and get it over with

But we are in a rebuild.

The greatest Premier league side in history aged etc and now we're in year one of replacing.

Everyone's twerking for this arsenal side but its taken them 5 years of adding players each year to get to where they are.

People on here are expecting to be back to dominating ways after one winter window and one summer window.

Its going to take time and some players will improve and some won't make it, but do you doubt the club? We'll get there but not sure people on here will have the patience after tasting success.
