Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Is that not a Pep issue then? I can't see any other realistic conclusion you can make. I adore the man, but he is responsible for then collective performances and if there's a general malaise around the club that we can't shake does something drastic need to happen? Devil's advocate question of course.
Yep, imo it’s 100% a Pep problem. Love the guy but it’s just not working, so many things I think he gets wrong currently, and yes I know he’s “the bestest manager to ever walk the planet and I’m just a tit of a fan” but I’m allowed an opinion and I sit at the game with 2 eyes and can see there is so so much wrong,

Things might be worse than I realised

I don’t know whats happened but these guys haven’t actually performed in 3 games.

Foden was hugging the touch line when he’s a midfielder. Haaland was isolated, no goal in 250 mins. Getting peppered by the leagues 2nd worst attack and struggling against the 4th worst defence AT HOME. Leaving Cherki to only play 29 mins. Marmoush on 300k another 3 min cameo. Doku still gets told to be high and wide. There was no tactics just hope and pray Doku does something. Yes Leeds were super narrow but Arsenal scored 5-0 against these lot.

From what I say
Gvardiol has to be dropped. Starts Stones or AK 45
Might have to go get someone in Jan, because we’re holding on for dear life.
It’s unlikely Doue or Olise leaves and Rodrygo is worse than all our players rn. Might aswell see what’s going on with Semenyo
You didn't watch Stones in midweek I assume??

Sure, there are problems. We're still a few players short.

But there are also positives like the team not giving in despite the mistakes. Plus, we're up to second.

Plenty to work on but not the doom and gloom situation on here.

Agreed, but I'd say we're still quite a few players short. I really can't believe how average many of our current squad players are, particularly in light of the transfer fees and wages.

Was saying coming out of the game that we used to have world-class or near world-class players and leaders all over the pitch. But poor recruitment and a manager who seems to have lost his mojo have reduced us to a very ordinary looking team with no mentality, and who fall apart if we concede.
Nonsensical comment. Clowns like you associate any negative event in a game with a weak “mentality” and us “falling apart”

Pro football games last 90 mins plus injury time, there are ebbs and flows in momentum.

Our strong mentality was displayed in our riding out the natural ups and downs of a competitive game and coming out on top with a late winner.

Fantastic win but Jesus Christ that was fucking dreadful. Comedic defending, ridiculous, needless lunge to give away a penalty and a return to the sideways and backwards football again.

We started so well and so positively and could/should have notched up a cricket score in the first half, then someone pressed the complacency button and we just stopped. Easiest game of the season and we scraped through. We scored some nice goals but Leeds were fucking awful and will go down this season and we couldn’t even get out of own half at times.

Well done for getting the win in the end but we’re showing signs of regression as often as we’re showing signs of progress.

Decent first half without providing a feast of flowing football. Leeds never threatened and if we had taken a couple more chances we might not have found ourselves hanging on for dear life.
We really need to start playing a full 90 mins rather than acting like the game was won at the start of the second half. We always have a defensive brain fart or 2 in us, it really is comical at times.
Thankfully Foden was brave enough to shoot rather than take our usual path and just pass to the side, great shot it was too.
It's a little concerning that we struggled so much against a side languishing in the bottom three with what is probably our strongest team esp as a good number of them did not play midweek.

HT team talks need to be addressed. whatever happening we very often become much worse after the break. either what being said or not being said. sort it out before its too late.

killer instict completely nowhere to be seen at 2-0 up. this was a fucking shit Leeds we should have beaten with 4/5 goal.

and these players had a breather during the week most of them.

Fulham away will be much harder and I dont think we can afford to drop points there.

But it's not the first time this season City has come out in the 2nd half and totally turned off and we lost the game

I still think today the City players should have been 100% better than the Leeds players for the whole of the game because of being rested midweek, Did Haaland have many chances ? Both fullbacks Nunes and Nico mistakes ? Marmoush got on at the 86th minute

Midfield is the problem if Rodri was fit we'd see out games. That's the real difference between this City and title winning City. We've always had a solid midfield. I'd say we need 2 new midfielders to come in.

You solve the midfield, you solve the defence at the same time. A better more solid middle helps solve alot of issues.

I don’t think it’s quite as simple as that. IIRC in November 2020, the captains took all the players out to some sort of dinner/team building thing and that got everyone pulling in the right direction again.

But ultimately if the players (half of which are new) aren’t giving everything, and we’ve already changed the assistant coaches etc to get new ideas in the room, then Pep is the only thing left to change.

If that is the way it goes then we’re going to have a really shit next 6 months because no way Pep goes midseason, and if he’s the problem (which IMO he isn’t) then things are just going to carry on the same way.

Yeah I'd have expected that too but this is why we love football as its so unpredictable.

At least we all used to love the unpredictable as some on here can only handle a win as long as we also play wonderfully.

Plenty of problems but the table doesn't lie. We're second and must have something about us to be in that position.

We can get better too. Just might not be until next season until we're back to our very best.

OK, I have a plan ? The Chelsea vs Arsenal game changes everything in this post-match thread and we should hold fire until then

Thing is pep as always said he need top players and at the moment we are lacking in that department

The comparison is that they were late winners. Thats it. Nothing deeper than that.

We had a late winner today and we're in second and all there is on here is utter misery and anger.
Probably because we scraped past a shite Leeds team when we were 2-0 up just after the Pep fuck up in midweek and the loss to Newcastle.
