Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

First minute, seemed like we'd cruise it.
First half, pretty much totally on top, nowt to be too concerned over.

Second half they changed their set-up and caught us off guard.
Took the 2 peps 10mins to work out what to do,
donna pretended to be injured and we had a team talk.

Fair play to leeds for having a go 2nd half.
Fair play to us for overcoming it and going on to win.

Great game for the neutral.
Have to admit i quite enjoyed the highs and lows and eventual high - just like the good ol' bad ol' days.

Up the mighty blues!
It was a shambles, took the two peps 10 mins to work out what to do ffs, what planet are you on, we struggled to beat the league whipping boys after being two up

We're not regressing. How have you come to that conclusion?

You're being far too negative. We had a bad week. But we had a top last minute win. We're second and top scorers.

Some players will have to improve, some might not make it, then we'll make more additions in the coming windows.

It might not be this season but we'll get there again. Patience needed.

When do you not see us regressing from? Last season?
Over the last few years?
5 seasons?

Of courses weve regressed.
But its ok, we knew it wouldnt last forever, but come on

A win is a win but this one covered up a multitude of issues, the main one for me being that we have a team with too many bottlers in it, and simply not good enough to see games out in the way we have taken for granted since Pep's arrival in 2016. Our recruitment has been poor, no other way to put it, we have gone from a team of high quality, even world class stars to one that possesses a couple of 'worldies' and then a mixture of OK-to-bang-average players.

I'd be interested to hear from these folk who blame our recruitment on who we should have signed recently who was realistically available.
As far as I was aware Donnaruma, Reijnders, Marmoush and Cherki were all highly rated in their respective leagues and don't recall anyone questioning these signings at the time.

Can't excuse that 2nd half but the referees performance needs investigating...

Peter Banks, scouse fucker i think. We've had some shit refs lately but that was one of most one sided refereeing performances I've seen in years. He was absolutely horrendous and ruined the game with his constant whistle blowing and histrionics.

Apparently the club looked throughout the world for a quality right back and couldn't find any.

Over the past 5 or so years we have never really been able to sign a top quality player who doesn't have a release clause so maybe this was the best we could do.

City bend the rules

Daniel Farke
accused Gianluigi Donnarumma of feigning injury to "bend the rules" as Manchester City denied his Leeds team a precious Premier League point on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

The visitors got off to the worse possible start with Phil Foden scoring inside the first minute, before Josko Gvardiol doubled the hosts' advantage before the break.

However, Leeds rallied after the break after a change of tactics and formation, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring immediately after the restart.

Yep the standard we were at the standard of the players we had will be hard to do again! Us fans need to quickly realise it’s not going to be as good as that if ever! The sooner we realise the sooner we stop being nervous in the crowd and on the players backs! The scum were on there teams backs for years after that manager expecting leagues trophies!

Nobody else does it, do they. Dirty rotten City for ‘bending the rules’.

First time it's ever happened in the premier league....or so the media are about to make out

Those are generally the better signings though, especially Donnarumma. Cherki should be starting every game if fit.

Reijnders taking a while to get as good as we hoped though and Marmoush is inconsistent unfortunately.

The real disappointments for me were Reis, Khusanov, Echeverri - what was the point? We needed to sign ready made proven quality. Guehi and Livramento would have been available if we offered enough. Wirtz was available, though in hindsight that looks like a bullet dodged he might have been amazing under Pep.

We should have sold Savinho and Lewis when we got decent offers too, free up more transfer funds for someone who might actually create or score, or defend properly.
