25 | Gianluigi Donnarumma - 2025/26

Set the tone? Take your agenda and shove it along with the numpties liking it...
At 6ft 5 he should be doing a bit better with crosses, surely? It’s obvious he’s used to playing in leagues where the keepers are even more protected than the PL and he doesn’t like it. I’d imagine that’s why he’s always complaining and then getting booked.
All that being said, I still think he’s one hell of a goalkeeper and getting angry when he concedes is something we’ve not been used to for a good while…

He’s not the most inspiring giant keeper I’ve ever seen! His kicking is suspect (he’s going to get done one of these times), his rush of blood to head with balls outside the box is Ederson-esque, and his aerial command of his box is comical for his size, BUT he’s a brilliant shot stopper, fast down quicker than any big man I’ve seen and his coverage on a 1 on 1 is the best I’ve seen since Schmeichel Snr.

He needs to shut up and clean up his act if he wants to be the world beater he aspires to be.

Which for a keeper at this stage of the season and having only played 11 games is a bit silly. Bernado on 4 now too and a lot of his are for similar.

It's the whole "set the tone" bullshit I'm taking exception with...

Let's give him more licence to go long with his kicks.
Who knows with big Erl and other forward players looking to feed off any knock downs or winning the second ball it could work. This tactic has on occasions worked for us in the past but seems to have fallen out of favour.

Best keeper in the world, and still they
moan on here.
In shot stopping and aura, definitely.

Aerial dominance and passing, not so much.

It’s a trade off. His passing makes our build up much more clunky, but he makes more saves from the increased number of shots we face as a result.

Hopefully he learns to take man and ball at corners soon.

He was cleanlng everything out for the first few games I thought, very impressive. Don't know what has changed Blue, but I feel so much more confident as you say in shot stopping and aura, for sure.
