Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Exactly, he has a free pass but it still pisses you off when you see him putting minimal effort in to games
He made a pretty crucial move defending in the box when we were up against it. I dont think thats minimal effort. Leeds dealt with him well and the second half problems were team wide compounded by some questionable individual decisions

We have improve on defending longer balls and set pieces. Watching it back the first goal is Nunes making two mistakes and then second is a long ball not defended properly.

Newcastle last week was a goal kick second ball and a corner second ball. Villa was a poorly defended set piece.

Stats wise the two goals are the only real chances we conceded yesterday, but the game became a mess when they started putting it long and went to 532.

Would be so good to get Rodri back and put him alongside Nico at times. May give Cherki & Foden a stronger base to play from too.

An important three points but we need greater focus.

What a five minute clip doesn’t show you is that they changed tactics at ht and went 2 up front and played long up to them all half. No mention of this game changing switch in tactics on motd either - shock! City didn’t respond at all and everyone around me knew they would equalise at least. We were all over the place. Haaland didn’t look at all arsed either which was odd and didn’t help, and Doku just kept loosing possession. As a result they had plenty of of opportunity to launch those balls forward. We were mega lucky to win in the end, but thank Buddha we did :)
dont think changed tactics just players more battering ram approch in firts half james and Nonto ? were trying to use pace but poor passes made inefective

Only the captain.
Any more go there and the manager gets the card.

Or when a player goes down the manager or all the staff have to go to there seats sit down till game gets the go ahead anyone who doesn’t red card them! It’s easy for them to stop it but they’ve had no inclination last 3/4 years to change it while other clubs been doing it, they happy to not say anything not press conference no one asked the manager about it till yesterday when pep got the question!

Unfortunately I completely agree

We are now Arsenal at the end of the Wenger era. We need a complete change. Where that takes us I have no idea.

It's all become a bit stale and dare I say boring as fuck. Or maybe that's just football in general. Just better things to do these days I suppose

What happened to Arsenal when Wenger left? A google search will show you it wasn’t really a Wenger fault.

Be careful wishing for Pep to leave because I am not convinced our players are good enough. They certainly lack the ability to play the way Pep would like them to.

I always think Dan, James is still living off the back of that goal he scored against us in the FA cup at Swansea .

We can be found out defensively by a streetwise forward and the long ball. Remember Brentford before the last World Cup, Wilfred Zaha for Palace and Benzema in that CL semifinal . On another day against another team I would have been happy for DCL , given his struggles with injuries . It was a huge relief watching Foden's goal rifle at the end . Game changer and a touch of magic .

Yep, imo it’s 100% a Pep problem. Love the guy but it’s just not working, so many things I think he gets wrong currently, and yes I know he’s “the bestest manager to ever walk the planet and I’m just a tit of a fan” but I’m allowed an opinion and I sit at the game with 2 eyes and can see there is so so much wrong,

I don’t think so.

In fact I think we’d be in real shit if we didn’t have him.

I’d go as far to say that if we didn’t have Pep, we wouldn’t have made CL football last season and would probably struggle to get it this year as well.

I’m looking at some of the players we had out there yesterday and they’re not fit to lace the boots of our best players of recent years. That XI vs Leeds yesterday is blushing at being in 2nd.

Quite frankly the recruitment has been absolutely shambolic and we’re the only team in the Pep era that hasn’t had a huge positional drop off in that time. That’s the manager propping things up.

Trust me, he’s keeping us up there right now rather than dragging us down, and there’s a lot of executives, or whatever we want to call them, clinging on due to what the manager has pulled out of the hat.

Hes on one of those runs where he completely disappears from games. Hes A LOT of credit in his bank, so its fine, but where as others will say he got no service, i see that hes barely showing himself
Looked like the Erling of last season his shoulders down played too much football in as short space of time needs a break Pep fucking up on Tuesday meant he had to come on

That Leeds manager crying about Donna going down injured on purpose so we can have a team meeting. Happens all the time, Villa keeper does it every game. Never gets mentioned. Stupid Orc trying to save his job by clutching at straws!

Having said all that they do need to bring a rule in to make it not worth doing. Keeper goes down, has to go off for 5 minutes with sub keeper coming on. Job done, it won’t happen again!
Newcastle have been doing that since Howe & his sidekick rolled up to St James' Park

Agree it needs to stop. It could be a genuine injury so that would be a bit harsh but who would be in goal?
There are more simple solutions whereby if the GK is getting treatment the coaching team have to sit on the bench and players arent allowed within ten yards simple The fourth official and Lino can manage it Anyone breaching it gets a red card
