Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Good 1st half where we looked very composed.2nd half came and Leeds got that goal and we started to lose our game a bit. At one point those long balls were causing real havoc and another Leeds goal wouldn't have surprised me. Ref was a bit shit as well but we expect that now. Irritating how many loose balls seemed to fall right to a Leeds player as well.

35,000 Blues have no recollection of that goal because they’d fucked off well before it happened.
Remember it well, at kick off the ground was at most 2/3rds full, it pissed it down and was freezing, the North Stand lower was only about half full as no one in their right mind would drag kids along mid week mid winter. We are lucky enough to be under the eves in CB1 so avoid most of the rain and stay until the end.

So awful we are 2nd in the league.

You and way too many others have never seen or lived through awful City sides.
Not even awful City sides… we’ve had recent years of experience to show that even when we were arguably on average the best team in world football for six years, we could play like 2007-08 Derby County at times.

It’s always interesting when something only becomes an issue if we do it.
It’s been going on for years and Arsenal and what’s his name relied on it last year more than they did any other tactic and not a peep!

City are an easy target, and boy do people love swinging for us!
Yeah it’s complete bollox. The BBC even have it as a story on their front page. They know it gets clicks and feeds the demand for anti City stories. The odd thing is Leeds scored straight after the alleged time out so it didn’t work that well anyway.

That we're better than most of them?

We'll play better than yesterday and lose.

You dont get points for the style you play

We won. Cheer up mate.
I was just going to ask, did we actually win yesterday? It's hard to tell, reading this forum. Thanks for confirming it for me.

Now; if you'll excuse me, I'm off to do a bit of happy clapping. Maybe sing a verse or two of Kumbaya as well.

We got the 3 points, that's the main thing, but we made it difficult for ourselves, they went long ball and we struggled.
On a side note, I don't think we're ready for the new extended north stand, gonna look more empty than full for most matches, and please no more torches on phones, I'm at a football match not an Elton John concert.

Not to mention we only had to breathe on them and they were falling all over the show. Their own keeper took and age to take a goal kick and all their players took even longer to take any set piece.

When you see the keeper wasting so much time and the referee letting it go, you know when our keeper does it once he's getting a card

To be honest I'm more baffled by someone trying to act as though giving away chances by making mistakes actually means we were not shite.

It's really not that baffling, I don't know why this is so hard for some people to grasp. Stupid mistakes are not an indictment of the way we played in general.

If we play brilliantly against Real in 10 days, and we've done everything right and are 1-0 up in the 96th minute, and then in the last 30 seconds one individual fucks up and it finishes 1-1, does that mean that the rest of our performance is forgotten and all the other players have been shite?

It's an insane way of thinking about team performance if one player can literally alter your opinion of all the others in the team.

We are a good team that is clearly better than at least 18 other teams in the league by virtue of results. If Nunes hadn't made that mistake yesterday, Leeds would have done exactly nothing (as evidenced by the fact they weren't capable of crafting anything themselves), we would have cruised to victory and we wouldn't even be discussing this.

My point is that my opinion of this team is not impacted by Nunes' personal error. And for the record, I think Nunes has been brilliant this year, so I'm gonna give him a pass on this one.

It's the panic and headless chickens when it goes and one mistake leads to another; it's so clear to see
City needs a cool head and a strong character to get hold of the players and the game and settle them down

Lack of leadership can be a problem, bit scarce at times.

God, on the rewatch that Foden winner hits like crack.

1st half - good to very good and just needed a bit of luck to be more up. 2nd half we just made mistake after mistake and didn't get near to creating anything for a long time. Needed to change things before the second as Reijnders & Bernie weren't offering enough. Ah well.

Haaland barely tried mate

Peps persistence with Bernardo is seriously starting to piss me off tbh

Vardy got bullied by Calvert Lewin, and Leeds dominated for long spells in the 2nd half. A win is a win but this was close to being November last year.
